Any chance of a Pandora port?

Post by ingrin » Fri Aug 01, 2008 6:48 pm

Hi, I just recently discovered Lugaru after searching for well regarded Linux games. I really enjoyed the demo, especially once I realized the scope of the ragdoll physics and little details (like recovering knives, knives imbedding into trees etc...)

Anyway, the reason I was looking for great Linux games is because of my current obsession, the Pandora:
http://www.openpandora.org/

It isn't released yet, and probably will be delayed another month or two as they iron out drivers and whatnot. However, once it is on the market (and Opengl ES drivers mature) I think an indie game like this would do quite well. It seems like the system requirements are low enough and technology similar(Linux/SDL/Opengl) enough that an ARM port of the Linux code would be possible.

I think the controls would map wonderfully to the dual analog sticks on the Pandora (i'm playing on a laptop and its almost impossible to play with a glidepad :) ). Sure, the market will not be that large, but no worries about finding a publisher either (I did some reading up in this forum and think its a crying shame that a PS2 version was created but not published because of the lack of a publisher). Since there is no liscensing fee or physical media requirements, you can follow the exact same model that you have for distributing the other versions of the game.

Regardless, I regret not finding this game until so late, and wish you guys the best luck with Lugaru 2:Electric Boogaloo (or whatever the subtitle might be  )
