How'd icculus port Lugaru without the source? I'm a noob to such things, but doesn't one require the source code? Either way, I'm going to consider this port the climax of the Lugaru Renaissance. :)

Great job on getting your hands on the source code.
The game feels generally faster, however the loading screens seem to take just as long.
Here are the bugs I discovered...
  • The in game music does not stop when returning to the menu, and the two tracks clash.
  • Very strange, for the first couple of plays the frame rate slowed down to about one frame every 10+ seconds whenever the enemies saw me. The sounds in the background were flawless, not slowing, I could hear Turner jumping around and being battered by the other bunnies. Pressing escape did render the menu, but I could here the menu music - and the in game music as described above.
  • Unfortunately, unlike the old Lugaru, screen size is a bit funky when manually changing the config file (In ~/Library/Application Support/Lugaru/Data) and rather than filling my whole screen, it just fills around 4/5ths of it.

    Sorry 'bout the high res! (Please don't hate me for it :lol: )

    The scaling problem is the same in game, except with a black background.

    In the config file:

    Code: Select all

    Screenwidth:
    1680
    Screenheight:
    1050
    Mouse sensitivity:
    1
    Blur(0,1):
    1
    Overall Detail(0,1,2) higher=better:
    2
    Floating jump:
    0
    Mouse jump:
    0
    Ambient sound:
    1
    Blood (0,1,2):
    2
    Auto slomo:
    1
    Foliage:
    1
    Music:
    1
    Trilinear:
    1
    Decals(shadows,blood puddles,etc):
    1
    Invert mouse:
    0
    Gamespeed:
    1
    Difficulty(0,1,2) higher=harder:
    2
    Damage effects(blackout, doublevision):
    1
    Text:
    1
    Debug:
    0
    VBL Sync:
    0
    Show Points:
    0
    Always Blur:
    0
    Immediate mode (turn on on G5):
    0
    Velocity blur:
    1
    Volume:
    0.8
    Forward key:
    w
    Back key:
    s
    Left key:
    a
    Right key:
    d
    Jump key:
    space
    Crouch key:
    shift
    Draw key:
    e
    Throw key:
    q
    Attack key:
    mouse1
    Chat key:
    enter

On the original version, all the settings could be maxed without any slow down. Same here.

My system specs are

Code: Select all

Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Latest build of Snowy);
iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo;
1 GB Memory;
128 MB Video Memory
Thanks an awful lot for porting this game to Intel 64bit. I look forward to playing it through again in crazy fast ninja glory.

He has the source code, obviously. What's been lost is the toolset for making assets for Lugaru.

So the source isn't lost forever. Maybe now we can talk David into releasing the source to people who bought Lugaru?

As long as Lugaru is still being bought, he probably won't do that though.

Did you download Lugaru from this topic or the Games tab up there?

Ill check it out, and edit post when I have...

aand Im back, the ub version runs much MUCH faster than the old version, but in one play through of the demo campaign and the demo challenge levels Ive already come across two bugs, bug one, a bizzare screen freeze where I could here the action, but a still of the fight was frozen on my screen. Bug two, a few fleeing bunny rabits are running off into the distance for no apparent reason, instead of attempting to recruit rabbit bunnies.

That was exactly the same problem that I was having! :D What are your system specs?

I'm happy to say that matto's lugaru downloader worked perfectly with the binary. I clicked Show Package Contents and dragged the Data folder somewhere on my disk. Then I set it as the Data folder in the downloader and installed Silb's Temple campaign. I moved the Data folder back inside the Lugaru application and I now can play Lugaru:Temple.

BTW, I didn't notice any sound bugs while playing in campaign mode. Not any bugs at all, as a matter of fact.

This topic should be stickied to get the max amount of testers.

I can't even write my registration code :\
Using QWERTY layout, living in Italy, MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.5.8

I have the older one, so if I manage to unlock this full UB version I'll report any problems :D

As I've stated before, it needs the Linux key to unlock. This will probably be fixed in an upcoming version.
Speaking of which, when will the next beta be released?

And I do agree, this should be stickied.

This game was much faster than the original. I am running a macbook pro with 10.6.2 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 duo. It ran fine for me, not the slighest bug. Although I am going to go more in-depth for I just played a few levels repetitively. None the less great job.

Minor quibble: When AppFresh found the Universal Binary of Lugaru, it said it was outdated. Apparently Lugaru UB is version 1.0.0, while the Lugaru PPC binary is 1.0.6. Perhaps having the UB be version 1.1? :?
