Lugaru: The Rabbit's Foot. What foot?!?!?
The game is actually called Lugaru: The Rabbit's Foot. What foot? There are no major references to any foot in particular in the game, and although a number of enemies will die as cause of Turner's foot and you may die from enemies feet occasionally, they are not pointed out.
I asked John about in that little Meebo thing and he says that he doesn't really have an idea why.

I think, the connection is as follows. Lugaru is an allusion to the french word for werewolf 'loup-garou' and the caribbian vampire/werewolf myth called loogaroo. A rabbit's foot is used as a magic charm of good luck, also (possibly?) helping against werewolfs and standing in close connection with werewolfs(full moon/silver bullet) and Voodoo/Hoodoo.
Now if someone could dig up were I read that as David's(?) explanation...

Yeah, I just thought it was a play on words, because they're supposed to be lucky.

I'm guessing it probably just seemed like a nice subtitle to David. Maybe it was designed so it would make more sense, because a game called "Lugaru" doesn't actually tell you anything about the game, while a name like "Mortal Kombat" tells you just about everything about the game.
Either way, blood-shard's correct, Turner didn't get very lucky when his whole family got raped and murdered, but he did get lucky single-handedly taking down over a hundred rabbits and wolves.

It's his left. It's very special. On account of being a left foot.
