So I was wondering if I could check out Lugaru while I was waiting for overgrowth to come out.
I dled the demo and installed it just fine but when I try to run the game it freezes my linux computer. I'm running Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 9.10).
Any ideas?

First of all, update your system.
Start Lugaru from the console, if application errors occur before it freezes up, they should show there.
Can you still get to a tty console when it freezes? (ALT+F2)
If yes, only your X server froze. Updating your graphics driver should usually fix this.
If not, go through your XOrg log and look for the errors. It should be in /var/log/XOrg*.log; errors are tagged with EE, I think.
Post the errors, maybe we can help out.
If it was a kernel panic or something like that, you should have received some pointers (flashing lights on your keyboard or a message saying "KERNEL PANIC".
Kernel panics are hard to analyze, usually. You should search for help on them, usually your distribution's web site has a community section, ask there.
Generally, it's a good idea to address your distribution's support channels for help as well.
