Re: Lugaru lag!
How do you know your system doesn't support it? Are you sure it's not just an outdated graphics card driver?
Re: Lugaru lag!
With such a vague topic all I can say is perhaps update your open GL drivers... Are other games running slow as well? Please be more specific =)
How does the lag manifest itself? Is it a slow framerate? What is the framerate specifically? (you can see this when you have debug mode on which you can do by changing the debug variable to 1 in the config.txt file in the data folder that is included with Lugaru)
We would probably be able to help you more if you gave us some specifics like hardware specs, or even what operating system you're using. We're not mind readers

Yes i do have a low framerate and yes i can run open gl on other games but this one it wont work is there any way that i can make the game use directx or direct3d??

Nope.sweet101 wrote:is there any way that i can make the game use directx or direct3d??
Re: Lugaru lag!
well can you make a demo where you can use D3D???? or make D3D and open gl for overgrowth?
Re: Lugaru lag!
- Lugaru is a 5 year old game, so wolfire will not go back to change it. There is no point in wasting development time on 'fixing' an old, outdated game that should be running fast, if not screaming fast on any computer made in the last 5 years. It doesn't even use any shaders!sweet101 wrote:well can you make a demo where you can use D3D???? or make D3D and open gl for overgrowth?
- Moving from Open GL to Direct X is not as easy as flipping a switch. The whole rendering pipeline would have to be re-written, which would take weeks of development time wasted for absolutely no gain.
- Wolfire has clearly stated on their blog on more than one occasion that they favor Open GL over Direct X, if only because Open GL is cross platform and really can do everything Direct X can just as well, if not better. I won't go into more detail, you can read the blog for that if you so wish.
- How do we know it's Open GL? It could be something else not working on your computer, and it may not be fixed with direct X.
- Once again you choose not to include any information about your hardware specs or OS.
In short, no, and no.
Open GL shouldn't make any difference if your graphics card and drivers are working properly.
Have you tried changing the graphics settings within Overgrowth?

Does Black Shades use OpenGL because it runs smooth on my PC.

also maybe what graphical settings you have on lugaru. cause really if you're trying to run it on high detail with high detail blood and motion blur and all that other fancy stuff it probably will run worse than if you had it on lower settings (duh).
