Shouldn't really matter. Try it at 0 compression see if it loads, go up 5 from there if it doesn't. Lather, Rince, Repeat.

I like the white stripe. It adds a worn look to that leg. On the other hand you could have some white somewhere at the edge of the texture picture.

Well, that's fancypantscamo.png, a decal. There is no white pixels in the decal.

It's the exact same size as pants.png, fancypants.png....

And that stripe shows up on fancypantscamoarctic.png which is also the same size.

I am guessing there's some sort of oddness in the bloated psd file.

edit:
Well I tried an experiment. I opened the png in theGimp, saved it as 0 compression and certain things not ticked. The file bloated to 1MB.
OPened it in PS and saved it again - back to normal size, but now there is a black stripe instead - better, though it is still a mystery..

Of course, I now suspect perhaps the dpi's do not match exactly, I saw something like 72.007 or some such, but I care not to investigate further if i don't have to, there will just be a black stripe on some right pant legs.

I have noticed The Gimp can damage pictures sometimes when saving them. Who can say how though. The Resize feature is really bad, or was last time I used it.

I'd say it would suffice if you'd adjust your UV map to account for this.

Why would I want to adjust the UV's again...

Here's a strange observation:
When the normal pants or fancypants is on the character, the right leg of the pants is ever so slightly longer then the left. If there is a white stripe, it gets colored by the tint setting. The pants shape (not colour) is entirely symmetrical.

edit:
And just so you know, when the decal is loaded in mudbox it appears without the stripe of any colour.

edit2:
Here's the fancypantscamodesert.png decal in mudbox, and in game. Maybe it's getting a tint from the map, maybe it's geting more then one pants decal.

It's probably floating-point-precise UV mapping in the editors and pixel-count-precise UV mapping in the game.

Blender has a feature for snapping UV maps to pixels because this is the case in some games.

The coloring thing is surprising though, weird that noone catched it before. Some blending thing maybe.

floating point vs pixel snap - good to know. Next time I will be sure to ask :)

The blending oddness happens in vanilla Lugaru as well, if you look at the desert camo decal, then go to challenge level 4 you get the 'urban camo' look.

I will be done the vanilla textures/decals tomorrow; most of them I actually like.

Well, it's done....

I 'think' ancestral Tales only has one additional fur for rabbits, which I've got covered.

'Temple' will require a few decals, I may get it done tomorrow.

Otherwise it should work fine with 'Lugaru Empire', 'The Seven Tasks' and 'Reluctant Assassin' and of course standard Lugaru.

Great! You could contact icculus, maybe he'll put that rabbit + textures into the opensource version. It's derived only from GPL'd assets (the skeleton, basically), so it should be okay to declare it as GPL if you want it to have that license.
icculus is a member of these forums here; alternatively, you can seek him out on IRC or jump on the mailing list for Lugaru (Open Source) here: http://icculus.org/mailman/listinfo/lugaru/
