in theory if you can assign keyboard keys to the directional controls and the buttons on the controller, you could.

If you assigned forward to Up and backwards to down and left to left and right to right for example. You could then assign attack to A, crouch/block to b, throw weapon to C and equip to D. I do not have a controller or gamepad, your free to try it if you have one. You would have to do that in windows with whatever setup program the pad comes with.

You could try this one, (I again emphasize I have not tried it and do not have a game pad)

which is the first result of searching for "assign keyboard keys to gamepad" on Google. Feel free to try other programs to do the same.

I registered just to post this message:
I've been watching Overgrowth for a long time. In fact I have a friend who's a senior developer who I asked to get in touch with Wolfire to give his critique. I have been holding back on preordering so far, but as soon as the devs implement proper gamepad support, including
  • Auto camera
  • mac support for different controllers and drivers, esp xbox 360 and dualshock
  • ideally in game button graphics which prompt the user for each controller
then they'll get my $30, no problem. This game is ideal for gamepad input, I can't wait to roam around boxing bunnies with my thumbs ;)

Auto Camera and Mac support for controllers are already in Overgrowth. I play it with both xbox360 and PS3 Dualshock on OSX 10.6.8. (Currently if you want to use 2 controllers, you need to have them both be the same controller on Mac, but that's not too big an issue...)

For Lugaru, I have used controller mate to play the game (with same two controllers) but it's not as robust.

I use a gamepad\mouse combo which works for most pc games. http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/Jo ... ersion.htm works for key bindings.

Would it be possible to map keys to an inevitable Wii U GamePad port?
Is OG already coded for multiscreen?

XPADDER is a great tool for 360 controllers. Works like a charm!

I've found a joystick is fun to move with but sometimes dodging straight backwards is difficult.

Is there a solution for Linux? It seems a shame to let a good controller collect dust. ;)
