Zantalos wrote: Take that marathon quote, that guy must have been so damn confused when he first saw it. It took him a real good look through just to make some ten awesome levels. How many levels did Staffshock make in like less than a month? Freaken 12  Oh damn this level editor is going to rock.
Maybe because the Marathon levels are much more complex than Lugaru's.. try making a copy of a Marathon level in the Lugaru editor and see how that goes.

Zantalos wrote:Oh yeah, that thread also had a lot of comments about some of our useless comments. My bad, sorry if any of our posts annoyed you guys, I get real worked up about awesome games like this. I know there's nothing my ideas can contribute, I've just been talking about things because this is just too cool to discuss about.
Arghh, I can't help myself. I gotta post more on these random ideas!
Haha, I just saw that. I must have had a midterm that day or something. That was back when there was a huge influx of people asking to be on the beta team or telling David that Lugaru needs grenade launchers and stuff. Constructive ideas that are going on right now are excellent though.

There probably wasn't too much discussion about the UI because I believe that was also the first time that people saw Turner (which actually is completely different from the current Turner model/texture.)

I am working on the UI and will add a post when I get listboxes, checkboxes, and other controls implemented. It is definitely going to be the best UI of any game released so far. Most games put in a half assed implementation so that your scroll wheel hardly works you can't select text with your mouse and copy paste it, etc. Lugaru's scroll bars, editfields, etc. are going to be just as good as Apple's or Microsoft's and will (if not already) put other games' to shame.

I'm sorry to say this, but I doubted that this editor would be any better than other editors (UnrealED ftw!). Or atleast that it would be any special. But when you put it like that....
*Waits and looks. 8) *

That's great!
I hate defunct game GUIs.
This is going to be awesome.
Thanks Jeff!

That pisses me off more than words can describe :P
Anytime I have to grab some tiny listbox scrollbar because the game ignores my scrollwheel.. gn.
Urban Terror's UI is like that, I've played that game for over a year so you'd think I'd have gotten used to it, but it still drives me up the wall.

Oh my god, Two Rosens working on this? This is going to be really awesome!
I mean, Jeff OWNS when it comes to these UIs. They do what they're meant to do and they're easy as hell to use, and this is just for things like Feedback Assistant and Feedback Forager. He makes perfect custom programs as well, so you know something like this is going to be just as easy for him.

And you don't have to take my work for it!
"I found your services to be very speedy and your responsiveness to our needs exemplary. The project was delivered as promised and it worked perfectly. Your willingness to fine tune the program to make it even more efficient and easy to use was also executed quickly. The program that you designed for us has already paid for itself in only ten days."
Chuck Pierce
-Jeff's GUI is going to earn Lugaru's map editor money!
"I am very happy with the work Jeff has produced for me. His programs have been fast, efficient and cost effective."
UncleRay
-No lag, workable, AND maps are going to earn you as much money as you spent on them!
"Highly recommended custom software programmer. FAST turnaround time, honest and willing to satisfy. Jeff has been very understanding to my custom needs, while maintaining intuitiveness in his program to suit my needs! Sharp honest guy, thanks!"
Gamegiver.com
-Can create content suitable to Lugaru FAST, and he's extremely smart!
"Jeff wrote a program for us that exceeded our expectations in less time than we thought it would take. He hit all of his targets and was diligent in making the last minute changes we requested. We are very satisfied with his work and will use him again in the future. Thanks Jeff - good programmers are hard to find!"
Brian Tibbs
-Is gonna make a better program than what we're expecting. Can create last minute changes on the fly! (Good news for all these professional "Map Beta Testers")
"There are programmers that waste your time and money, and then there is Jeff. Took on an impossible task and made it idiot proof, and completely automated. "
Robert Boyd
CrazyClearance.com
-Take Lugaru's editor, now imagine retards designing levels only Silb could do. That's how easy it will be to use this new GUI!
I could go on and on, but it's very clear this new editor is going to be revolutionary to the gaming industry as we know it. :P
I mean dude! It's Lugaru's simple map editor with an actual Interface!

I'm not sure you can beat the Torque Game Engine world and GUI editors. But I guess anything is possible. I eagerly await a preview of your work. And I hope that I turn out to be wrong. (Although from my experience in Torque. Giving *creatively challenged individuals* the ability to make maps can be very annoying)

*edited for Renegade's bebefit :)

There's that word "noob". Don't use it please, it's highly irritating.

Also, does someone notice any ass-kissing around here?

I wasn't going to be the first to say it.
Ass-spelunking might be a more accurate term though.

Hehehe, I noticed as well...

Anyways, seeing how much I do not realy like the torque engine editor (Might be just me, but still), and reading what Zealos.. uh.. I mean Zantalos quoted up there, I realy do hope this thingie Jeff makes will own them all.

UT2K4 still be my fav engine... And perhaps those along the lines of the later games that takes place in the forest, such as FarCry2 etc... And I think PhoenixEngine will be able to beat them all! >:D!!

Just to clarify, we are not even thinking about the map editor yet. What I am working on now is a GUI framework that can be used in the map editor as well as the rest of the game. My current objective is to make a pixel perfect replication of the Mac OS X interface that behaves exactly as it does on your actual computer, down to the last detail. So, for Mac users anyway, when they start up Lugaru, they will not even know that they left the operating system - that is the level of GUI widgets I am going for. So when I say that this is the next generation and it will leave other games in the dust, etc. I am referring to how your mousewheel will work exactly how you expect it to, you can press tab to cycle through controls, you will even be able to drag and drop text and such.

I never said map editor, did I? :S

Ahh, phew, I didn't.

/me was very well aware of that Jeff is making the GUI stuff.

Let's assume there will be a windows version as well. As well as maybe, let's say Linux... Those two will (would) look like OSX interface as well?

/me likey Apples design.... It's so brainfriendly. (not talking about the eyecandy).
