whenever I try to save, lugaru unexpectedly quits, and then quits at random times. I dont know whats going on and cant fix it

as far as I know lugaru does not have a save function, this leads me to question what you are actually doing.

In the map editor, I open up the consol and type save, then it quits

You need to provide a filename, like this: I don't know whether that's the problem though.
