Slowness

Post by Keiha » Sat Dec 24, 2005 4:08 am

I played Lugaru for the first time at a friends yesterday and it was pretty fun. I downloaded it and when it starts up its REALLY slow, as if its lagging or something. It seems like the FPS is like 3/fps. It's driving me nuts that I don't know how to make the program run at full speed, or why im having this problem!

That definitely should be enough to run Lugaru at full detail. The standard thing to do to diagnose Lugaru is to delete the config.txt file in Lugaru's Data folder. Also, press control-alt-delete and go to the performance tab. Make sure that no hidden processes are using up all of your RAM or CPU.

Ive tried reinstalling it, using fixes, I haven't tried different versions yet. I just don't understand why it would be so choppy, I can't even get ingame because it takes like 20 seconds to get through the menu.

I have this choppiness when I use the hardware volume keys on my laptop to turn up/down the volume. I have also seen it happen when I leave my MSN or Skype running and they start sending login alert messages whilst Lugaru is running. Try shutting down your IM clients and then try playing.

Sounds like theirs a problem with your computer. It could be the fact that you don't have enough ram needed and you're running other applications while you're playing, or it could be problems with your DirectX&OpenGL drivers.
