Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
Greetings,
I recently bought Lugaru HD. I seem to be unable to change game's resolution. I change it, hit back and restart the game but it is ALWAYS 1600x1200 despite the change.
Other settings change correctly, and the config.txt file stores the new resolution. But when the game runs it runs at 1600x1200.
I'm running Windows 7 x64.
Can anyone help?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfourtunately, no. That thread leads to a user with a different problem.
Modifying the game settings updates the config.txt file; and by modifying the config.txt file I am able to enter debug mode. So it can easily access the configuration, but for some reason always uses a 1600x1200 resolution. Other configuration parameters load OK, apparently.

I'm also having this issue. It's perfectly playable, but I would rather have a widescreen resolution. (Will try running as administrator, one of the tips in that other forum for non-changed settings).
EDIT: Administrator does nothing for me.

Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
Hmm. The only config file I have is the one in the Data folder. There is never a Lugaru folder in Users/[me]/AppData.rudel_ic wrote:There's also sometimes a resident config.txt in Lugaru/Data/. Deleting that might help. Make sure that the only config.txt is in c:\users\...
If I delete the one in Lugaru/Data, the game simply creates a new one (again in Lugaru/Data) when the game runs.
Running as administrator did not solve the issue. Nor did running in compatibility mode for XP.

Same Issue Here. I don't have a config.txt in appdata because Lugaru HD is just a .zip with the actual game inside.

Did you try running in windowed? I fixed it that way yesterday.
Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
Hello.
I have the same issues... When I try to change the game resolution to a widescreen res and restart the game, it is returned to 1280 x 1024. Also the changes in the config.txt are overwritten every time I start the game, except "normal" 4:3 like 1024 x 768.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and a game copy bought with the "Humble Bundle".

How is that done?ninjadingo21 wrote:Did you try running in windowed? I fixed it that way yesterday.

Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
Same problem and everything.
Windows 7 64bit
Cant change res and also cannot open debug console even with debug set to one.
I'm going to try creating a folder specified where the config.txt should be and then delete the other one and see if that works.
EDIT: It was a fail seems that creating the folder didn't work still wont change res or load debug, but after i did delete the other config the original in the data folder it didn't create a new one so its reading a config file from somewhere just not changing it.

Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
It may be that your computers are automatically reconfiguring it to the optimal/best possible resolution for your video card, and every time you manually change it changes back.
Hmm... try changing it directly, not using the game, by opening up config.txt and changing "Screenwidth" and "Screenheight" to your preferred settings. Width is typically the larger number (the 800 in 800x600, the 1280 in 1280x1080, etc) and height the smaller, so if you want a 1280x1080 resolution, set Width to 1280 and Height to 1080 and then try running it.
It's also pretty obvious that this problem is isolated to Windows 7 64bit; I don't have Windows 7, so I don't know the full capabilities of the OS, but I would also recommend trying to run Lugaru in compatibility mode for Windows XP (32 bit, if possible) To do this, right click on the Lugaru.exe and click on "Properties". There should be a tab named Compatibility; click on it and you should be able to run in compatibility mode from there.
If that doesn't fix it, I'm all out of ideas

Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
compatibility mode worked and allowed me to use the debug console and change game resolution BUT it does not support wide-screen formats so sucks for me i got a wide-screen monitor so im stuck with the game being a square.
EDIT: (forgot to say thanks) Thanks Ragdollmaster!

Re: Lugaru HD - Can't Change Game Resolution
You're welcome Unfortunately, Lugaru was made quite a while ago, so I doubt that the game itself is even compatible with widescreen. I don't think that's a fixable problem.
