Menu is just grey with white boxes

I got Lugaru HD from the Humble Bundle, this is what it looks like: http://img263.imageshack.us/i/lugaru201 ... 25471.jpg/
I've tried clicking around and I can't start the game either, the screen just turns red and then I'm back to my desktop. It also changes my desktop-resolution to 640x480.

Relevant information
OS: Windows 7 x64
Graphics cards: 2x 9800GTX SLI
Graphics drivers: recently updated
Screen resolution: 1920x1200

I managed to get it to work with compatibility mode, so it's fine.

What compatability did you use? I'm having this issue too, but only in compatability mode.

If I run it in normal mode it loads the stuff on the menus but then crashes when I try to enter a game. Maybe I'm using the wrong compatability?

yea i have the same problem i just got the lugaru from the humble bundle.
gray and white boxes on the menu...
uh where is the compatible mode you guys are saying?

oh and also i use windows xp

I too got Lugaru from the Humble Bundle. It looked great, but on my Slackware Linux 13.0 system (an Eee PC 901) I also get the grey with white boxes problem. If you need any debug info or more system information just let me know. I'd like to fix this so I can play this game.

My system specs:

• CPU: Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz)
• RAM: 2GByte DDR2
• GPU: Intel 945GME
• Kernel: 2.6.34-rc4-901-00148-gd6f533c (GIT checkout)
• X.Org: 1.6.3
• Intel driver version: 2.8.0

Start Lugaru from a console by going into its directory and typing

Well, then I'll just have to write a little shell script to start it instead of a symbolic link

i still having problems with this.
i have tryed re-downloading the game and updating my drivers and still get the
gray backgound with white boxes.

arg! this is frustrating!

bit more information of what i have.
os: windos xp
ram: 4gb
graphics card: gforce 8800 gt

That happens when the game can't find its texture files in the Data folder. I'm not sure exactly how paths and working directories function on Linux, but that should help narrow it down!

I see it now! I didn't realize at first what was going on, but now I see that the grey is where the eye should be and the white areas are the spots where the title and menu buttons would go.

Yeah, like David said, I'd verify that the directories are all where they should be and that there is, in fact, a folder called "Textures" inside of the folder, "Data", which should be inside of your Lugaru directory. In said folder, there should be just over 100 items and 3(?) other sub-folders.

ok well i sort of found a fix for this game but i do mean sort of,
if you go to lugaru file --> Data File you should see the config.txt set all of the setings (exempt the sound and game controls) to zero
now save and quit the file and start up lugaru
the game should work now with font and a big black scary rabit eye looking back at you...

note: never work on this on late nights it will freek the shit you of you.

but how ever for me i tryed putting the settings back one at a time to see if it was the settings causing the problem *sign* sadly now i cant get the textures back in the menu...

for a love a god a patch this please!
