Re: Open Source is Go
Hell yes!
Re: Open Source is Go
I can't wait to see people making hi detail models, post process effects, normal maps and such for the game.

Re: Open Source is Go
I have only one word for this:
you guys rock!
you guys rock!
Re: Open Source is Go
First reaction: "Awesome!"
Upon reading the source code:
The source code is terrifyingly bad[1]. I've looked at the Black Shades source previously, so I knew what to expect, but man. Don't get me wrong; this is awesome, and Wolfire is awesome, but the code as it stands seems unmaintainable to a mere mortal such as myself! So as several people have already said, before anything awesome comes of this (as I'm sure there will), there is going to be a lot of uninteresting cleaning up churn in the repository first!
Thanks guys.
[1]: The snippets that David has shown in various places seem really good, so I'm not concerned about the state of Overgrowth's source!

They sure are!moscowconnections wrote:I have only one word for this:

I don't see how that's one word, though.

Haha, it's true! I love the Game::Tick() function in particular. over 9000 lines!bernard wrote:Upon reading the source code:
Also, Hey everyone! I bought the humble bundle a few days ago and have completed Lugaru since then.
Thanks so much for the game, and for the source!

So...who wants to make Lugaru: the FPS?
Re: Open Source is Go
I'm in. *thumbs up, touch sunglasses*
It was way cooler in my head...
I only programm Java, though. I guess first of all I have to ask if I would have been of any use in such a project.

Might want to wait until some basic cleanup has been done.Freshbite wrote:

Re: Open Source is Go
I was kinda joking...
But yeah, as soon as I figure out how to get to the source, I'm up for some basic cleanup. It'll help me test my C++ knowledge, if anything. Syntax, optimization, and all.

Re: Open Source is Go
You're probably right.
Knowing me, I would probably get frightened and remove it all, and try to build it up from scratch. But since I don't know the language, that's not going to work very well.
EDIT:
If you read the newest blogpost it tells you exactly what to do.

Haven't you got ahold of it yet?Blorx wrote:But yeah, as soon as I figure out how to get to the source, I'm up for some basic cleanup. It'll help me test my C++ knowledge, if anything. Syntax, optimization, and all.

No. They confused me with the Mercury repository thing. I'm used to just using TortoiseSVN and getting things off of there. I have no idea what to do now.Freshbite wrote: EDIT:Haven't you got ahold of it yet?Blorx wrote:But yeah, as soon as I figure out how to get to the source, I'm up for some basic cleanup. Want me to send it to ya? Do you have any preferred ways of transfer?Blorx wrote:They confused me with the Mercury repository thing. I'm used to just using TortoiseSVN and getting things off of there. I have no idea what to do now.
