I thought Avatar was a very well made cartoon, especially considering how rubbish Nicktoons has been recently.

Shame about the M. Night filmalayan.

The best songs ever concocted by mankind are being made up here, and all you can do is comment on cartoons!!!!

But yeah, no I liked the cartoon too, haven't seen it in ages though, it probably went the same way Pokemon did after they added the next...What is it...Like 500 Pokemon? In that it probably just got a lot of characters added and turned into a steaming pile of crap. :?

You know, M. Night slaps his name right in the title there. Its not even named the same thing (Avatar...Airbender....). If you think about it, its his rendition of the cartoon series' concepts. So everyone going in to the movie expecting some great Avatar: The Last Airbender related movie is missing the point. Not that the movie was good in the first place...Having not set foot in a theater for over a year, I have yet to see Airbender, so I can't really comment on that.

This isn't about the movie. This is about the sequel.

The sequel that takes place about 70 years after the ending of the first series, with Aang dead. There's a new Avatar, a girl from the Southern Water Tribe. She has mastered three of the four elements already (Water, Earth and Fire), and is now seeking an Airbending master

That someone has revealed to be Aang's son, Tenzin (a meaningful name, eh?).

Other interesting things that have already been mentioned include "metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology", the fact that the city is "inhabited by people from all nations", and that some of the problems the new Avatar faces will be "rampant crime and an anti-bender revolt."

Steampunk, people (and possibly benders) from all nations working together, bending-powered supercriminals, more badass non-benders... That sounds quite promising, doesn't it?

Also, since it's just 70 years to the future, we have to consider few things. Think of Bumi, Iroh, the Fortuneteller, Fire Lord Sozin who started the war at an old age, Master Pakku and Gran-Gran, think of Sokka's Master, the renegade firebending master from the first season... And then imagine Sokka, Toph, Ty Lee 70 years older, in their place. If Legend of Korra was 100 years to the future, those kind of links would be much harder to make. I think and hope it was intentional, and that there will be all kinds of tiny hints at all the things that happened in the first series.

Film looks shit. My girlfriend watched Avatar when she was about 15. Wants me to go see the film, but I've no interest because it looks shit. lol.

The film was incredibly shitty

But the series was very good. Three seasons of awesome in my opinion.

Heard quite a bit about this Avatar thing. Was never particularly interested. The more I hear, the less interested I become.

As for the new movie, I've heard it's very pretty but not very good.

Lastly, that bit of concept art is very nice.

That is some pretty concept art. Reminds me of one of the artworks for Grandia, not that they're exactly similar but the same kind of concept, a character or characters looking out over breath-taking scenery.

It's too bad. I thought the movie actually looked fairly cool from the previews. Apparently it sucks, though. Wasn't big on the cartoons either.

The new series is a mini-series. 12 episodes. The makers are "happy because tha means they can really make an impressive 12 episodes instead of hits and misses like they felt they had with original series."

Interesting. Hopefully it does well.

Grandia is fucking awesome...even the horrible "beer = coffee" censoring.
"Grandpa stop drinking coffee in my room!!!" *trips over pile of beer bottles*
