Mouse jump

Post by Jeff » Wed Feb 22, 2006 4:53 pm

Here's something new for you guys to try. There is a little known feature in Lugaru called "mouse jump". To enable it, go to the config and switch Mouse Jump from 0 to 1. Debug mode needs to be enabled too.

Now when you're in the game, try quickly flicking the mouse upwards and jump at the same time. You should jump higher depending on how quickly you moved the mouse, with no limit to the height. With some practice, you should be able to very accurately choose how high you jump. You will be able to bound around the map with excellent precision. Try not to jump too high, because you might not be able to land!

I can't get it to work, perhaps because I use a trackpad. :(

you play Lugara on a track pad, wow. I have been swamped with work so I haven't tried this, but it sounds pretty cool

[Offtopic: I use a trackpad to move the camera 'cause I play with both hands on the keyboard. I feel it's more balanced that way. Lugaru's not a FPS.]

It's working, I can confirm that.

I do it that way: Exactly in the moment I press space to jump, I move the mouse up and down.

For some reason, I jump very high (and die sometimes) when I'm running.

I'd still like to know what the "Floating jump" is and what the chat key is for. Was multiplayer mode initially planned? RELEASE THE BETA MULTI MOD!

I tried it today during a short break I had. Very fun, although hard to use. Will this be in Lugaru 2, cuz it doesnt lose a sense of actual physics/logic.

Floating jump is where you can fly around like in the map mode.

There was multiplayer at one point.

I can't get it to work.
Writing Mouse Jump 1 in the console (I suppose that's what you mean by switching Mouse Jump to 1?) with or without uppercase letters just returns the no such command noise.

No, "Mouse jump" should be switched on in the config file, like debug mode. Unless I'm mistaken (since it doesn't work for me anyway).

My geuss is you mssed the "debug mode needs to be enable too," part of his sentence. If that isnt the issue I will immedialey cease to be of any use for you.

Stop confusing me

Jeff clearly says that you should go to the console to enable it.
I found it in the config file now, it has nothing to do with the console.
So what do you mean?

Anyways, i'll go try it out now :P

o damn, i didnt even notice that. Yeah Jeff fails at life and should be shot in the heart for that error.

To clarify how to enable Mouse Jump:
Open the config file (...\Lugaru\Data\)
change the number following "Mouse Jump" from 0 to 1
change the number following "Debug" from 0 to 1
Enjoy Lugaru with Mouse Jump and the other features of Debug mode

Also make sure to change Debug mode off (0) if you plan on having your times/scores for the challenges recorded.

Whoa
When I read this topic, I thought that with this feature maybe you could jump
about normal jump height +50%!
But first time I did this I flew to what felt like where you find yourself when having mapmode on and holding down the spacebar for 5 seconds!
I moved the mouse up as fast as I could.

Fun to play around with :P
