For some reason, installing the alpha took a ridiculously long time for me. I left the computer running overnight, but it restarted on its own because of Windows updates. I tried installing again but it is forcing me to start over. Is there a way to resume the download?

The download of what, exactly? You haven't exactly told us what it is you're trying to install.
If you refer to Overgrowth, people usually refer from assisting people outside of the Preorder Forum, which you gain access to by actually purchasing the product, and is also the only place where you can legitimately download the client.

So all you have to do is log on with your bro's account and ask it there, or let your bro ask it for yourself. But in this case it would be better that he add a link back to this topic.

Yeah. If he's bringing up using the game in any way without personally having bought it or having claim to a preorder account, which can be seen by the preorder tag, or lack thereof, underneath his username then he's likely a pirate. Don't help them with the game, as any help given here is open and freely available to all pirates.
