Unrated games
Unrated games
I have been bored lately looking for something new and cool... And well.. Im trying to look for some HIDDEN GEM games... those games that very little people know about or were underrated and deserve some recognition... Help me find some of these games.
Re: Unrated games
The title made me think this was a porn game thread. I am disjointedness.
Re: Unrated games
HUZZAH!
Finally an opportunity to mention this game again.
The Infinite Ocean
A point and click adventure with tremendous storytelling. When I finished this game I actually had to sit down in a quiet place and think about life. It's just so incredibly good. It's science-fiction themed. I can't say more. YOu just need to play it.
Correction: You MUST play it. It won't take you long, but I guarantee you one thing: you will never forget playing this game. In your whole life.
Jonas Kyratzes, the guy who developed this is a great story teller. He has published a few gems, but since they are quite text-heavy some people tend to stay clear of them. On his website there are more games, a few of them free to download. My personal favourite (besides TIF) is
The Great Machine: A Fragment
It's a completely text based Choose Your Own Adventure-game that runs in a little DOS box on your desktop and puts you in the middle of a war. Don't play this game when you are depressed. The way the whole scenario is presented is so damn good that you will feel the dirt you have to crawl through in your fingers and smell the stench of the battlefield. Later in the story it becomes simply epic. And the "ending" is absolutely ingenious.
I can't mention any details, since that would ruin the experience.
He has also published a massive (and I mean massive) Jump and Run, called Phenomenon 32. You explore a postapocalyptic Earth in an attempt to find out how humanity has destroyed it in the last great war and whether there is a way to make it inhabitable again. But. as always in this man's games, this is just the start to something much more fascinating. His influences include William Blake and Carl Sagan, so there you go.

Re: Unrated games
Lol, I got it. Yeah, Tiny and big is a great game. Really short, but really fun. If you like making stuff, Crashtastic is a good game.

I remember seeing this once... In a list of the worst games ever made.
Looks like a basketball version of Speedball.
Only slower.
And more arbitrary.
And plain bad.

It's incredible. There's really not much you can say about this without spoiling the story, but I will say that it contains one of the best portrayals of an A.I. that I've ever seen. If artificial intelligence existed, that is how it would think.
Heavy atmosphere, wonderful setting, compelling mystery.

Re: Unrated games
Well, there's an interesting MMO called The Endless Forest where every player is a stag/deer and you can't speak. It may sound boring but it's actually really relaxing and quite enjoyable.
Also, the original System Shock is great. It's often overshadowed by its relative, System Shock 2, but it's nearly as good. It's probably the first FPS to tell a story deeper than Duke Nukem 3D.
