Spore

Post by invertin » Mon Jan 01, 2007 6:04 am

If you havn't heard of it, spore is a game coming out this year where you get to create your own creature, starting with just a single cell, then working your way up while evolving and eventually, building civilisations and cities. If you play for long enough, space travel is possible aswell!

This is one game I'm looking forwards to.

Another thread has already been created about this, by the way.

As Jeff would say, we need a new thread for this discussion anyway. I'm not sure why though.

I don't know what there is to say about Spore really. It is a very ambitious idea, and whether it is fun or not depends entirely on how well it is implemented.

Spore looks incredible, and is probably the game I want more then any other game out there. And, it is most likely comming out for the Wii, since they said it will be release for "all systems."

I like the fact that in Spore, there's a game that finally takes serious advantage of 1st class demo coding wizardry. They've got some seriously sick guys on the team.

So what's the bet Jack Thompson will go after Spore when it comes out?

There will be some sort of backlash for sure... I mean, it's a game based almost entirely about evolution. I think that creationists will be up in arms.

I don't know, it looks like the player character is essentially playing the role of an intelligent designer.

Creationists will take it fine, god created something, but who's to say he liked it the way it was first made?
