The Sig Thread

Post by wormguy » Mon Jan 15, 2007 1:36 am

I have noticed a severe lack of signature pictures on this forum. I find that these generally add some character to a forum, so I am here to remedy that.

(If signatures aren't allowed here, for some odd reason, I can just delete this.)

*Ahem*

Make a request for a sig here, and I or someone who has a reasonably good grasp of Photoshop or Fireworks or something will make one for you.

Etiquette:
1. Be polite
2. Be as specific as possible, i.e. don't say something like "I want a sig." That doesn't lead us anywhere.
3. Thank the creator profusely, preferably in your signature.

Let's get crackin'!

Sigs are turned off.
Admin not like.

If they're just small like some text it's okay,
but in some forums
they have like 3 huge images in their sigs
and then some lame poem
that lameifies some previously non-lame person
and then 10 quotes
and then a list of their friends on that forum.

In that case, I start a petition to allow reasonable sigs.

I agree, sigs are nice - as long as I can deactivate them for my view on the forums. That's a feature phpBB supports as far as I know.

I generally have a 30x100 pixel signature picture and a maybe a quote at max, so I too push for a reasonable signature allowance.

I'm for it as long as there aren't any images in the sig. That's what Avatars are for.

Didn't you read the first post? This is about sig images. I say that as long as the sig image is within reasonable dimensions it should be allowed.

I vote for sigs to be enabled.

I already have one in my profile.

It looks like the votes are pretty much unanimous. Could we have some opinions of the admins?

Ok, just talked to David. Neither of us are fans of sigs (at all), but we will give it a try. You can have a line or two of text or a very skinny image. Absolutely nothing intrusive though...

Having signatures bigger than the largest post you ever made is just silly.

They usually contain something short and simple, which often gives you a good laugh too, so that's good.

Hooray!

Isn't it possible to disable them, as Rudel mentioned?
