Hats inside schools.....and anywhere
Poll says all
I'm writing a paper on it BTW so if anyone knows why it's impolite please tell me.
My school doesn't have gang problems (Unless writing gang symbols in bathroom stalls has anything to do with hats and gang colors), and it's an arts school. I think art schools should have hats inside because it shows creativity. If an art school is limiting it's creativeness then that's plain stupid.

That reminds me:BunnyWithStick wrote:What the hell is up with what people find rude these days?
People just try to think of new random rules that don't, shouldn't, and should never cause any problems or offense to people.
Come on, a hat is a hat. What's next, wearing pants inside is considered rude?

There are a couple reasons I can think of why it is considered impolite to wear hats indoors. These also apply to similar accessories like sunglasses or visors.
1) Similar to the military salute, it has for centuries been a sign of respect to bare your head for authority figures. Conversely, it is a sign of disrespect not to. Even if it seems silly, many people out in 'real life' will be offended if you are wearing a hat indoors, so it is good to get in the habit of taking it off.
2) Indoors, hats do not serve their primary purpose of shielding your head from the weather and sun. On the other hand, they do shadow your eyes and face from the teacher, so that they can't get feedback on their teaching from your gaze and expression, or even tell if you're awake.
3) Because hats primarily exist to protect your head outside, wearing one inside gives the impression that you don't really want to be there.

If you want your hat on, have it on.
It is not rude or offensive to anyone, some people just pretend it is,
because it's tradition for whatever stupid reason.
I don't want to have anything on my head when I'm in school,
but if I wanted to, they would have to throw me out.
I question the teachers everytime I see this rule enforced,
and they have no argument against indoor hats/hoods, and they never will.
If they implemented school uniform here, I would ignore that also.
Edit: I can't write.
