Difficulty Level

Post by Shade of Blue » Sun Jan 04, 2009 1:51 am

Hello all, this is my first post.

I created a user a long time ago, and beat the game with that user, but I can't remember what difficulty the user is set to.
Where can I find this?

Am I the real deal and beat it on insane, or am I just another weakling?

well it should say in config.txt, next to or under the word difficulty there should be a number (0,1,2 higher=harder) but this isn't always working because I checked mine and it said 3, of course if you deleted that user you won't be able to check, or if you haven't deleted the profile, play it against a wolf and see if the wolf tackles you while running away, if it doesn't than it's either on easy or difficult. of course this is all only relevant if you didn't delete it which I assume you didn't because of your use of the present tense is.

Probably another weakling.
Insane mode is Insane!
Of course, there's no way of knowing.
Do the wolves run animal-style at all to your knowledge?

Shut up, nutcracker, you're entirely not contributing to this thread in any way.

eh, insane is pretty hard. Took me quite a few tries to beat, especially on the later levels. I don't think there are many who beat insane on the first try without losing any lives.... then again, I may just be inexperienced with the world...

So, Shade of Blue, unless you have uber 133t skillz, it's probably safe to say that if you died many times, it was on insane. If you died a few times, difficult. If not at all or once, easy.

If you can see the minimap in the lower-right corner of the screen, it's not insane. The bigger it is, the easier the difficulty. Of course, this requires that you remember if there was a minimap.

As Glabbit said, if the wolves run on all fours at you and then tackle you, you're playing on insane. This is probably easier to remember than the minimap.

If the wolves skip the running-on-all-fours and just tackle you without crossing the intervening space, that's insane too.

Well, I'm definitely playing on insane then. No wonder it was so hard!

Definitely no minimap, teleporting wolves, the whole bit. And my config file does say 2.

And it did take several tries on some levels, although I did get a few of them in one try. Only took me two rounds to take the alpha wolf.

As for the challenges, I'm down to the last two or so.

[edit]
Hm, and apparently this wasn't my first post either. I guess had a few posts some years ago that I forgot about...

There is only one underlined "Whoa" in that post! It must be a secret passage entrance! *runs face first at screen*
