So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
I'm just wondering because there seems to be some cases where Jeff, David, or someone else from the Wolfire team has to step in, whereas a moderator could have done the same job, freeing the Wolfire team for more work on overgrowth. It doesn't happen often, but still.
So where'd they go?
So where'd they go?
Re: So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
I don't know. When were there mods in the first place?
This is the Wolfire forums. Wolfire are the mods. That's all I know.
Of course, I wouldn't mind taking such jobs off'f their hands, but on what ground should they trust me? Or anyone, for that matter?
Current situation is safest, methinks.

A moderator would have to be someone impartial enough to be unbiased. The only people I can see with such interests are the Wolfire team. *Shrugs*
Re: So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
The secret of the wolfire forum is that we don't moderate anything.

mods haven't been around since Colicedus got his mod status removed and he was banned. The other mods have all since left (if you check the names of people that still have mod status, they've all been inactive for quite some time).
i think that the team may have been having trust issues after the Coli incident, but i could always be wrongs *shrugs*

Re: So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
Nah it's not about trust issues -- I am pretty sure there are still like 20 mods from back in the spambot attack days of phpbb2. This may have inadvertently changed in the phpbb3 migration.
It's just that I think people prefer the open community versus having a lot of rules. I think we have banned two people, and both of those people are back now. As Wolfire grows, we might need to change our policies to deal with the larger volume, but for now, I think things are pretty cool.
Let me know what you guys think.

phpbb2-era mod reporting in. Damn if I haven't been away a long time.

Re: So, uh, where are the Mods on this forum?
Ahem, I am still a moderator. Most of my mod duty now that the spambots are gone is spent doing nothing, along with the occasional deletion of a double-post that's exactly the same as the one before (Clicking send twice) or merger of completely unnecessary double posts and triple posts.
I hope nobody minds.
If you have a look at "The team" you will see that it's quite a large list, full of inactive and active moderators. Since the creation of the SPF and Overt Ops forums, the spam-blaster mods were not given mod privileges on these forums, considering spammers can't get in there and the fact that the spambots are gone completely. As a result, we don't have our shiny green names anymore. I feel sad.
