Request to Aubrey
Hello all!
I have a question for the good sir Aubrey Serr, creator of many a fiiiine piece of art for this called Overgrowth game.
Here goes.
How do you generaly make them pretty pictures? I've been in the proces of painting and drawing with photohop for some time now and would like to know how he creates very fast and seemingly without much effort those pretty smooth shadings on his drawings. Especially in some of his DW art.
So Aubrey if your reading this, I'd like some hints on the know-how to make that beautifull shading style you seem to deploy so easely (spending 10 minutes on 1 gradient with a hard edges brush and banging the Alt key ain't fun!). I saw you using the smudge tool, but in what way and with what reasoning. Those beautifull lighted spots on the trees in the Ruinhead.jpg picture. Brushes or other deviously gorgeous means?
If it ain't too much trouble, thanks in advance!

PS: some examples of me in muckin around photoshop.

Re: Request to Aubrey
Aubrey has been doing this for years, practice has made him perfect.
Re: Request to Aubrey
I do remember him or someone saying that he said that when he worked for other companies there was no undo tool, so I learned to be perfect every time.
Which is just awesome.
Practice makes perfect I suppose. I can't draw at all. The best I've done is this weird tentacle monster thing.

Re: Request to Aubrey
I know he's been doin it for a looong time, but the shading style he used was the exact kind of thing I was looking for.
Thus the request for info
And tentacle monsters can be cool!!
If your japanese.....

Re: Request to Aubrey
You art is looking pretty awesome! I think the main thing to ask is if you are using a mouse of a tablet? Painting with the mouse took me 8-10 times longer for the same basic results.

Aubrey, is that your first post outside of the SPF? Or just in Randomness?
Re: Request to Aubrey
If either or those to, it's randomness.Lotus Wolf wrote:Aubrey, is that your first post outside of the SPF? Or just in Randomness?
He has posted in both the Wolfire and Lugaru forums previously, I believe.
