Re: Sparring feedback

I am familiar with Aikido (I haven't done much of it though) and I agree, it looks awesome and it is a lot more practical than people give it credit. That being said, those demonstrations are not good models for a real fighting situation as much as test speed, technique under pressure, movement, and ...

Re: Sparring feedback

Fighting multiple opponents is easy with the proper techniques. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW4POr1ZNLc Though most of my training is geared towards one on one fighting in a sport setting, I have also done quite a bit of group training. The strategy is simple, but the execution is not. One needs ...

Re: Sparring feedback

The Gladiator mode as is is already quite fun. The main game-play problems I've had were with mobbing. The hit and move technique is rightly effective but situations arise where there are no reasonable course of action. I think the problem of mobbing would be a much more interesting puzzle if there ...

Re: Some Suggestions

For example, the one handed dog sword slash. If the current slash was the close-quarter alternative to the stab, then couldn't a new wider slash be implemented while moving? Maybe slow down a bit, but keep moving? Maybe...?

Re: Some Suggestions

Again, when it comes to the actual implementation, I have no idea. But this is what I observed. Unarmed fighting is the most advanced to date. There are multiple close range attacks (jab, cross, knee) and then the longer ranged front kick and the round house or crescent (I can't really remember off ...

Re: Some Suggestions

What is the counterplay, here? If an enemy does a successful low kick, and you see yourself fall down and see the next attack coming and there's nothing for you to do, it will get old. If it's just a finisher, it works, but not if it can be spammed. The counter-play is simple and already implemente...

Some Suggestions

First of all I would like to say that I am a huge fan of the work up to this point and I know that there is still a lot of work to be done and everything is a work in progress and so on. I did go through and look at a lot of the newer discussions in hopes of not regurgitating the same things. Obviou...

Re: Dual weilding

As cool as it would be, the only "dual wielding" I'm holding out for is small shields and bucklers which could use variations of already implemented blocking and striking mechanics.

Re: Idea: Wounded

The biggest thing for me is the way they die. The clutching animation is simple but effective. I would really like to see significant variation in finishes. There are some already, but for instance there could be a slumping like faint when a character bleeds out and stiffening out when killed by hea...

Blunt weapons should also be less effected by armor than bladed weapons.

Actually, gray wolves can't climb up a tree, that would be the gray fox

A random collection of sugestions and thoughts.

I have been following Overgrowth for a while now and from the start I was very intrigued by the introduction of new races. One of the things that irritated me about Lugaru was that other than the wolf slap, strength, size, and behavior, wolves and rabbits really had the same attacks and basic abilit...
