Not too impressive what I did, but whatever.

It's the same for me as well, but I saw that the 2nd map on the list (Named Stucco Courtyard Arena) was the replacement, it seems.

I'm not sure about any of your other problems, but SUMLauncher is great for changing graphical and control settings: http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14201 it also automatically updates Overgrowth for you. To change those settings on SUMLauncher, just go to the Overgrowth Config tab.

Possibly because it might be set sometime after the events of Lugaru, which old cities or places would be overgrown with plants due to age? Not very sure.

Well, you paid 30 dollars to play the game when it's officially released. If it has worked at all in the past, the only thing I could think of is uninstall it (maybe also deleting anything it left) and re-installing. Otherwise, wait for the people to email you back, they're very helpful.
