Re: Overgrowth + NS2 pack! Read me!

Wow. I was a little miffed when I saw the deal, but then I saw that I get NS2 anyway! I'm a big fan of the original NS so this is a pretty awesome bonus for me. Thanks!

Re: The Great Battle Of Lugaru Part 1

I am going to do a dramatic reading of this.

Stay tuned.

Re: Scars, anyone?

I think this is a pretty cool idea. It adds a little bit of personalization to the game in a bizarre sort of way.

Re: Re:

Okay, I got an idea. It's essentially a variation on the invisible wall. When the player gets within a certain distance of the wall, Turner starts to lose speed. The closer they get, the slower he goes. Eventually, just before he 'hits' the wall, he comes to a stop. If at any point the player chose...

Re: Critical Hits

Randomness and unpredictability in battle is good. Just like a challenge is good, and a long game is good. However, an artificially challenging level is bad, and an artificially long game is also bad. Artificial unpredictability won't really work. Though certain attacks might be more powerful in ce...

Yo dawg, I herd you like arguing so I put an argument in your argunment so you can argue while you argue.
You just single-handedly redeemed this thread, congratulations.

Re: Invisible walls

Invisible walls shatter suspension of disbelief. ... invisible walls would just break that completely. I feel the solution used in the original Lugaru was entirely adequate. Lugaru did have straight up invisible walls. ;) This is what baffles me about the intense rhetoric in this thread. In the 680...

Re: Invisible walls

Invisible walls shatter suspension of disbelief. To those of you who are saying that it's just a game and it shouldn't matter: you're wrong. Creating an enjoyable videogame is first and foremost about maintaining the illusion of whatever it is you're creating. Overgrowth seems to be focusing on terr...

Re: Lugaru Phoenix engine project

Hey guys, if you want to get started, here's what you guys could do right now. a) make a main menu in webkit b) recreate the UI in campaign map in webkit, for example: http://www.wolfire.com/ui/modexample/modexample.html c) recreate the challenge level UI in webkit d) create a dialog UI in webkit t...

Re: configuirng x box controller

A word of advice: Playing this game often requires lightning-fast camera changes that would be hard to perform with a joystick. I'd say stick to keyboard and mouse.

If you must, however, look up Pinnacle Game Profiler.

Re: Vote for your Favourite Races

OK, I hate to rain on your parade, piss in your wheaties, etc., but does this thread really need to be in SPF? I mean, I'm seeing all kinds of threads popping up in here that would fit better in the Wolfire or Randomness boards, and if you guys weren't bloating up this board so fast it would be easi...

Re: Lugaru Phoenix engine project

I feel like if you add anything to the story, it might not be Lugaru any more. I say stick to the script David made, I really don't think there's much to be added. While we're at it, I wonder what Silb would think about a Temple remake. I played that campaign to death, and I would probably be willin...

When this comes out, I am totally going to make an airship mod.
