Re: Another God Damn Spooky Occurence

It was likely a ricochet. Ricochet behavior in Receiver is very odd; and hard to follow and what seems like an abnormally long delayed response, but I've had things like that happen before. You also usually get an orange streamer tracing the path of the ricochet but not always.

Re: A Gunsmith's Analysis (Updated for RC7)

I'm putting this here although it isn't necessarily directly related to Receiver, though Receiver does play into my response. I was reading David's blog posts about the GDC Animation Bootcamp and something stuck out to me in part 5 : Sometimes you really do have to break the rules though. The highes...

Re: A Gunsmith's Analysis (Updated for RC7)

So I'm sort of back. I've been super busy with writing and actually haven't played Receiver in a few months; I'm very cyclic with gaming, and someone got me DCS: A-10C Warthog for Giftmas. Turns out the illness thing was a complete lack of Vitamin D in my system (phew, no diabetes or rheumatoid prob...

Re: A few gun inaccuracies

Blatant self-promotion: I have already addressed all of this. Some improvements were made as a result but word is there isn't going to be an RC8.

Re: More ingenious weapons in Reciver

I think it would level the entire structure.

Pros: No more drones. Cons: No more tapes.

Re: A Gunsmith's Analysis (Updated for RC7)

Huh. New posts. I should probably, like, reply to some of these.

Sorry guys, I've been extremely ill for the last month, that's why I haven't been around much. I'll get back on this eventually.

Re: The most badass room clearing in Receiver ever

I always aim for the base to hit the motor and battery. The problem with shooting out the gun is that it can still fire a few shots before it completely breaks.

Re: A Gunsmith's Analysis (Updated for RC7)

My only issue with the Liberator is that it just wasn't made to survive more than 10 shots without exploding. It has the metalurgical engineering of a cap gun. The original version also has no rifling, so it would be shotgun-slug-accurate. Also the fact you need to punch the shells out with a pencil...

Re: More ingenious weapons in Reciver

While we're at it, I could go for orbital bombardment. Nothing says "get out of my way, drone" like a solid tungsten-carbide telephone pole called down from space and hitting the ground at close to Mach 10.

Re: A Gunsmith's Critique (Updated for RC7)

Hello guys. Zamza: Don't worry, we don't bite. :] Mostly. Anyway... First, fanning the hammer on a double-action revolver doesn't actually do anything. On a single-action design, the ratcheting pawl is attached to the hammer, so repeatedly cocking the hammer will rotate the cylinder. On a double-act...

Re: A Gunsmith's Critique (Updated for RC7)

Hah, no problem. :] I went and made a table of contents on the first post so everything important is hotlinked together. That kind of thing appeals to me too, I wouldn't mind using it, but I think a lot of players are already a bit overwhelmed by the current weapons, which aren't particularly comple...

Re: A Gunsmith's Critique (Updated for RC7)

Hey, I never said the C/96 couldn't be added, it would just be awkward to use. Not worse than the Garand M1 though. There's not necessarily anything wrong with the Wolverine, but I don't know how useful a .22 LR pistol would be against these robots; that's quite a bit underpowered, and way more like...

Re: A Gunsmith's Critique (Updated for RC7)

Other Suggestions for New Guns Having trouble sleeping and my mind is going berserk, so I figured I'd get up and do something useful. Since I have nothing useful to do, I'll do something interesting instead. Here's some other suggestions I thought of for weapons that could be added to Receiver at a...

Re: A Gunsmith's Perspective (Updated for RC7)

Three different people have told me that I'm wrong about (R) tonight, so I'm going to try to clear this up. http://i.imgur.com/yvIzns.png http://i.imgur.com/2cEwAs.png http://i.imgur.com/69fJgs.jpg First, the hold-open lever has a rebound spring trying to pull and hold it downward. The only thing k...
