Re: Blood In Overgrowth

Hahah, what's wrong with blood? It's a natural thing! I don't really get the mentality of "more blood = more mature".

Also, I'm pretty sure that blood in Overgrowth will be turn offable, as in Lugaru. I'd wait for an official word from Jeff/David/etc, though.

Re: How do i post screenshots?

Or host it on http://tinypic.com. That way people who haven't signed up here can probably see them.

Also, make sure they're in JPG format. PNG works too but it's a little pushing it. Absolutely do not upload BMP files, they're huge.

Re: Blorx's crazy game-making schemes

Hm, I'd think that it use a collision detection engine just like anything else, except you don't display it with SDL or OpenGL or any of the usual choices, but you make it type into the console. Like, say that your character just went to coordinate (3, 4) from the top left, you'd probably have to te...

Re: Blorx's crazy game-making schemes

Neat ideas! These don't seem too hard to make, especially since they're both text-based. Programming language is not an issue, I think, as pretty much every real programming language can output text, and you don't need the bleeding-edge speed and power of C or C++. Make it in whatever you wish; Pyth...

Re: jessica alba or paris hilton?

I knew you'd be back. You were doing it just to try to prove a point and make people feel bad...I think it backfired. No, I left because I didn't think that the situation could get any better from there, especially since I wasn't even aware that I was offending anyone. But I missed this place so I ...

Re: NoBama? GoBama?

Yea but anyways, I'm sure they probably would be mad over something like that. No, I mean in a good way. There have been surveys that show that atheists are the least trusted minority in the United States. It makes a lot of atheists feel special to receive recognition along with other religions, es...

Didn't see/hear it. Lots of atheists on Reddit are soaking their knickers over Obama mentioning "non-believers", though.

Re: Getting into the game!

I've strayed a little - basically I do think that if ideas are to revolutionise gameplay, they do need to keep a broad view of the technology, and if not use the newest techniques, then use old ones in new ways that a blinkered education might leave one incapable of seeing. Hm. Right, I agree that ...

Re: Getting into the game!

Neat points! So sorry that your old long post was deleted. I know how that feels. Indie Games are, after all, happiest on the cutting edge - currently there's a lot of research going on in AI, Parser development and other I/O systems that could well revolutionise gaming for the next generation...

Re: Can anybody help me with HTML?

This depends on what kind of domain you want to make. If you have a spare ten bucks per year, you can make a .com/.net/.org domain. I use NearlyFreeSpeech.NET's integrated domain system thingy, and they sell them at $8 per year and set it up with your websites semi-automatically. Also, whenever you ...

Re: Can anybody help me with HTML?

I guess I haven't put enough stress on checking out W3Schools . Seriously, it's awesome. The tutorial links are on the left sidebar. HTML is up on top, CSS is a couple links below it. But if you're really interested in how I made my page, here's a step-by-step of how I think I did it: 1. First I mad...
