Re: frosticles the level designer
Are you from Alaska though? because if you're not it would be quite difficult to make a map that's like our forests. just cover the ground in snow and make all the trees fir/coniferous? :-) Close enough. :P At least for one kind, anyway. There's also a jillion miles of birch and mixed birch/spruce,...

Re: The Witcher 2 - More good than bad.
I really like the detail in the interiors and the lighting in the Living World video, and this week's Art Asset update from Aubrey was yet another reminder of how awesome OG is going to be. I'm constantly stunned that they are making OG with 4 or 5 people. I hope they license their engine out for mi...

They do look a little too perfect to be real, but the apartment floor plan with the pool made me laugh pretty good.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
 Pretty funny... When we elected him, I was hoping he'd find/kill Bin Laden in the first 2 months, just to stick it in Bush's eye. I bet he was hoping for that, too... which I suppose might be a pretty good indicator that OBL was pretty well hidden. I had to laugh at John Kerry saying, "Di...

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
wow, that Hiroo Onoda story is crazy! I've seen pics of the jungle in the Philipines, and I guess if you were going to hide and not hear news from the outside world, that'd be a good place. I heard this morning on NPR that someone who knew him said Bin Laden spent the last 5 years basically in one r...

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Get your rifles and army helmets, kids! There's gonna be another war on American soil! Yeah, we usually try to have 'em somewhere else. Totally interferes with shopping when you do them where you live. ...but some people are just so inconsiderate, always suggesting that we import them and trying to...

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Holy shit. After years they finally got 1 man with their whole army. Totally productive and awesome. No joke. I always thought that W. just let him go on purpose at the start of the Afghan war. That way the administration would have a nice, convenient bogey man to instill fear in the people. Makes ...

Re: What was your first RPG game?
Fallout 3.
I came late to it because of only really enjoying action-y 1st person and 3rd person (like Lugaru) games, and disliking turn-based combat.
I think I put 400 or more hours into F3 and then FNV. Now the modern, open world fps/rpg combo is my absolute favorite game format.

Re: Something about the Debug.
Yeah, the workaround is to make all the other characters on a level a bit bigger or smaller. Kind of a chore at first, but with only 8 possible enemies per level you get a routine going. One thing I liked about doing this is that it also encourages you to mix up the size and body shape of the enemie...

Re: Best/Worst game endings
Worst Ending for a recent game I've played so far: The 3rd Birthday - PSP So you're Aya Brea and you've spent the entire game an amnesiac.... Wow, that just sounds like a multi-nonsense-elaborated version of "oh, it was all a dream, the whole thing was just a dream" So it's totally...

Re: Movies
I've liked a quite a few comic actors better in their serious roles than I do for their comedies. Robin Williams and Jim Carrey are very good in their serious stories. I've heard that Zack Galifanakis (?) is pretty good in "It's Kind of a Funny Story", but it's always rented out at the mov...

Re: Martial Arts Video References for Overgrowth
wow, that's a great video. The pairs of fighters do the same sequence of moves over and over and add one more each time so you can see the progression from different angles. Nice find!Josef Nader wrote:

Re: Martial Arts Video References for Overgrowth
From Ong Bak, here's a compilation of Tony Jaa moves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSMjAZvUGFM&feature=related The move that absolutely has to be in Overgrowth is a knee strike at 0:25. :o We had to rewind and watch that about 6 times when we rented it. Oh well, clearly I can't figure out how t...

Re: Martial Arts Video References for Overgrowth
Those Ong Bak movies have some really fun moves in them, both in the fights and in the Parkour/obstacle style chases in the streets. Not all of the good stuff is available on YouTube, but for anyone animating it would be worth renting the movie to use for reference.
