That has nothing to do with random encounters however.

How about mutant bunny zombies? Controled by the evil necromancer frog of death! You can't kill them, only knock them out, and they will get back up
very soon.

Toshiro mentioned pressing a button to enter first-person mode (Like in the Zelda games), which is a nice idea. It wouldn't be uncomfortable either I think, just press the scroll button on the mouse. Or maybe you could enter a ranged weapon mode, where it doesn't go fully into a first-person mode, ...
