Re: Making NPCs attack each other.

I still have no idea how anyone could put this to practical use. Could be a good way of introducing a dangerous badguy, or making a horror campaign. There's not much scarier than something meaner than you that you can't do anything about. yeah, but my point was that I don't know of any way to recre...

Re: Making NPCs attack each other.

I found a way to make only one NPC attack the player in user-created levels, by inflicting enough falling damage on them (push them into an uneven surface, so that they start to jump, then knock them out of the air by colliding with them). Unfortunately, you cannot attack them, and neither will any ...

Eh, I don't mind him too much. He'd do better to think a little more before posting, but still, he's not a douche.

Re: Gaming controversy

Romans did know better. Greece philosophers talked about moral and ethics before Rome. Romans knew these philosophers and discussed their works. Jesus talked about moral and ethics. Romans knew about him and killed his followers. So at least some of them knew, but did horrible things any way. I don...

Re: Disgusted

Hmm. Yes, they did promise a video tour, but at the same time, I think it's a little bit of an overreaction to be "disgusted" over what Wolfire really never had to do in the first place, and that they granted as a bonus for the fans. So, yes, I think it's fair to expect it's completetion, ...

no sonnets, but still...

A shimering pink
below the glorious chin
petition honored

Fluorescent pink specks
settle on his wolfire shirt
as the color fades

natural again
Beard has shed its vivid hue
sadness marks this day

I felt this was appropriate, in light of the discussion in the "Future of Video Games" thread.

Re: The future of video games

Standard = progress. I would (strongly) disagree with that statement. Most people would say that The Beatles "set the standard" for rock music back in the 60's. Here we are, in 2010 and half the rock bands out there are still just trying to do the same thing that The Beatles did nearly 50...

Re: The future of video games

I have no problem with "modern art" (disclaimer: I know very little about art history) in the sense that you are using: random swooshes an minimalism (and by this, I am referring to visual, physical medium art). Certainly, there is a lot of it that has absolutely no emotional impact on me ...

Re: The future of video games

Well, this is interesting. I had looked into procedurally generated music before, and have some previous thoughts on the subject. First off, does the emotion of art have to come from the input side? I think it's entirely possible for randomly colored pixels to end up creating some emotionally powerf...
