Re: What happened to this?

Remember, above all we do alpha testing to help the developers. When they release an alpha, they're adding the features that they most need to be tested, while trying to keep the program as simple as possible. In the first alpha, they were mostly interested in: * Does it run at all? * Do the graphic...

Re: Woah, woah, woah, i have the kewliest idea.

Lugaru would have to be cheap on the Wii to be worthwhile, considering both the competition, and the fact that additional content would be much harder to get.

Re: Dialogues

Usually when I'm trying to figure something out I find an example that does what I want, steal it, and modify it until the content is right. This is useful because you start from a known-good sample, and if you break things, you know exactly what change caused the problem. So open up Silb's levels a...

Re: I have two weapons which i think will score in lugaru 2.

Sadly, detailed and smooth directly correlate with high polycounts, which tend to cause lag. It's amazing how quickly you can get a model to something that's too complicated to be usable in a game. You have to be modeling with an eye towards simplicity to get something usable.

Re: HEY BITCHES

Short of procedurally generating the textures, I'm not aware of any good way to totally eliminate tiling effects. However, it does seem to me that with a "noisy" texture like that used for grass, you could get reasonably good results by compositing several textures with relatively prime ti...

Re: Lotus Wolf's Weapon Shop

Speaking of materials, check out this site if you're having trouble making your own materials; there's a bunch of free ones there. You can turn procedural textures into UV textures (what the game uses) by "baking" them, a process which is described briefly here.

Re: Alpha Readme

It sounds to me like the scaling crash is simply a matter of the engine not handling negative scales properly; that's pretty straightforward to fix (if nothing else, you can just have the object "bounce" off of scale = 0 and start increasing again).

Re: Alpha Readme

Awesome! Thanks, Phillip.

One thing I'd like to request is keys for moving up and down. As it is, right now to move up/down you have to look up or down and then move forward.

Re: Alpha 1 links!

The devs don't themselves have any PPC computers, so they weren't aware that their Universal Binaries weren't.

Re: Alpha progress, bugs and discussion.

Hmm...could be I didn't update all of the files in my og directory. At one point files with the same name were being used to demonstrate a crash to one of the devs. Try it now. Remember, you need to put: basic_blocks.xml: in the Levels directory lizard.obj: in the Models directory lizard.tga, lizard...

Re: Object manipulation bugs!

The game crashes if it tries to load a .obj file where the faces have no texture coordinate information. For example, this will break: f 3//1 1//1 2//1 whereas this works: f 3/0/1 1/0/1 2/0/1 It's not such a problem that the program refuses to work with untextured objects; it's more the crash (appar...

That means you're on a PPC Mac. The Mac alpha is, at least at the moment, Intel-only.

Re: Discount on Overgrowth?

Think of it this way - your discount is that you know you can preorder Overgrowth. Not only do you get it a bit cheaper that way, but you also get access to the beta.
