Here is that normal map texture. For yourt character to have different colors, you need to edit the color map and make a new weightmap texture. Weightmap is used for the color palette.

I usually have two different versions on blender, one for Overgrowth and the other, the latest version. When I get this error I just try switching back and fourth between the two versions and that works. Or just restart Blender.

If you save a level too frequently, that error will start showing up and cause crashes a lot. If that happens just delete your cache files in your documents/Wolfire/Overgrowth. I sometimes get in a habit of saving a level every time I move around only a few objects, because I'm paranoid. Sadly doing...
