Re: Article: Why we don't have more girls in technology

My comment was mostly because it seems that APsychonaut's comment seemed to me to be a knee-jerk reaction to the title of either the article's title or the title of this thread.

Re: Article: Why we don't have more girls in technology

The, uh, original article is written by a veteran woman programmer and mother. She does say that the biggest people who are pushing for women to be programmers are feminists that dismiss her as a woman because she dresses in jeans and doesn't wear make-up.

Steam: Wolfire Games vs. Wolfire

There seems to be two "Companies" that Wolfire uses for its Steam games: "Wolfire Games" are used for Lugaru and Receiver, while "Wolfire" is used for Overgrowth.

Article: Why we don't have more girls in technology

Girls and Software on the Linux Journal.

I feel like the article hit many points as to why many girls/women don't have an interest in programming nowadays.

Why yes, I do believe that an administrator is needed.

At the very least, this and this thread needs to be stickied.

Re: FAQ update for Mac:

The CONFIG.TXT file is located in Overgrowth's Application Support folder.

An easier way to modify Overgrowth config files is to use SUMLauncher.

There seems to be a bug when I launch the Steam version with a controller plugged in. Attached is a crash log.

Re: RELEASE???

One of their alpha videos mentioned it. I forget exactly which number it is; perhaps as far back as 198? Also, there has been some recent activity on the official Overgrowth Steam page, with back posts of alpha releases, and one of David's responses on Twitter to when the game will be on Steam was a...

Re: What do you want to be implemented in the next build?

Not sure why there wouldn't be light sources. Independent light sources haven't existed in alphas 1 - 202, so I have no reason to think lights would be added to A203. Personally I wish we'd get lights sooner rather than later. It's completely possible that they have been working on it behind the sc...

Re: OUYA Discussion.

I, myself, would like to see Lugaru on the OUYA. Unfortunately, the game is completely incompatible with game controllers. Fortunately, the game is open-sourced, so someone can update the engine if they feel like it.

Re: SOS?

It stood for Souls of Steel, used a primitive version of Lugaru's engine, is a Carbon CFM app (So you can run it on Mac OS 8.5 to OS X 10.6), featured a first person view, had monochrome textures, with the enemy robots red until it died.

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a198 build

Odd, Overgrowth did not complain when I loaded the Impressive Mountains straight from the get-go. It also complained about the files when I tried to load Impressive Mountains Crete after closing another map and trying to load it. IIRC, the old map did have snow in it. Specifically, it says that it f...

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a198 build

There seems to be some files missing: I can't load the Impressive Mountains (plain) any more: it keeps complaining about missing files.

Re: Overgrowth mac crash help!

It looks like it's crashing when trying to get OpenAL set up. This may be due to a bad or corrupted driver.
