Re: A new Idea

I had a similar idea while watching a friend play one of the james bond games. he was taking hits and I was left thinking "that's not very james bond!" Although my idea just had shots reroute to miss you slightly while draining a luck bar. I like the idea, although I can't imagine it is ve...

Re: Revisiting multiplayer

if he read your blog, he'd have learned this a week or so earlier :P in this case, it would most likely be that whoever was hosting the game would dominate the connecting player, but there are ways around it. sniper rifles in a lot of FPS games use the latency of the connected player to allow some l...

Re: Revisiting multiplayer

I imagine that game was created when some naive young designer said to Nintendo: "I have this idea: it's a cart-racing game only you can modify your cart". So Nintendo said "great, find a pre-existing licence to staple it to and we'll be laughing". The resulting hybrid turned of...

Re: Pathetic incompetence - the Wolfire story, too?

this reminded me of the problems with multiwinia, they originally based their controls on darwinia and although they were fine for the slower paced single player game, they were a real struggle during the much faster paced and more competitive play style. But, they had gotten used to it, they'd been...

Re: Irritations and Failures in comparable games

Being provided with a method of saving a game's progress cannot be compared to being given a "point-and-win-button". I'm sorry if you have this silly idea that a game can't be allowed to have saves anywhere, but that's just you. If having quicksaves makes the game too easy, is it legitima...

Re: Irritations and Failures in comparable games

If you're unable to provide an ample retort rather than attempt some feeble witticism which ends up being devoid of any intelligence or, emm, wit, then simply don't make any retort at all. You issued one viewpoint, I provided a retort to furter the debate, then you decided you were incapable of res...

Re: years from release?

i expect that after the Unofficial alpha's they'll make the official alpha's or something like that and after those come the beta.. idk for sure i just think it's like that ^^ they did say originally that they planned to do 'blessed alphas' occasionally, releases with higher compatibility and polis...

Re: Irritations and Failures in comparable games

What an inane rationalisation, blaming a computer game for you abusing its quicksave function. do you think that was called for? do you really think jumping in feet first with arrogance was the correct measure to take? If a game has an exploitable feature, you can't blame the end user for exploitin...

Re: Custom Content, and Multiplayer

i kind of agree. however, counterstrike servers have taught me that all you will download from these servers is 30 second samples of blitzkrieg bop and laughing in slow-motion. what if we're talking that awesome red rabbit custom model though? should the guy who made that have to request it be made ...

Re: LODs?

also cloud computing doesn't allow for modding. thats a bit of a silly blanket statement, of course it does. I don't believe there are any cloud gaming portals that support modding at the moment, but that isn't a problem with the technology. theres no reason they couldn't allow each user a folder w...

it's not so much a bug as just the features to hide this sort of thing aren't in yet.
the grass texture you see is smushed down grass, it's supposed to be whats underneath the proper grass when it's implemented.
