I played a lot of Deus Ex when it came out, but when I upgraded my PC to XP, the saves got corrupted and I didn't feel like playing through the game all over again. It's a great game though... I remember once I found about 20 beers and wines and I drank them all just to see how drunk I would get and to see the cool zooming in and tottering around effect on the screen. The little extra additions like that and the fact that you lost health when you smoked as well as the other plentiful subtle add-ons were what made it an even better game, and I hope that Lugaru 2 can mimic this.

i also really liked the inventory in Deus Ex, trying to fit as much as possible on you by moving stuff around the grid. It also made you compromise when looking for weapons, for example "I want this flamethrower, but if i get it i have these three empty spaces that I can't use, so I'm better off just taking the bazooka and the medipack". will there be something like that in L2?

You won't have a "magic backpack" that can store infinite stuff, but there also won't be a 2d grid system ala Diablo, Deus Ex, RE4, and so on.

Whoa! No magic backpack or 2-D grid? Awesome, I can't wait to see what it's going to be like. Lugaru had that cool 'sheath' thing that required no screen at all, I can't even imagine what Lugaru 2's equipment screen would be like (if it has an equipment screen).

will L2 have an inventory for other stuff (food, idk anything else you might carry), or will it also be sheath/unsheath? Maybe a Batman belt type thing, with the numbers on the keyboard assigned to different items?

Blehhh. That's no good! Maybe he meant it wouldn't be a 2D equipment screen. So a 3d one!

or maybe he is going to come up with a new (or atleast not aforementioned) 2D equipment screen. I think 3D would be way too hard to deal with; although if any game developer were to come up with a good 3D equipment screen I wouldnt put the task past David.

It could be a non-grid 2d list of equipment like in oblivion, but that system sucked.

yeah, easpecialy because potions can be different by so little that it takes up a shit ton of space

a "shit ton"?

I've never played oblivion, so I don't see how a non-grid 2d system would work. are items in the inventory freely movable, or can they not overlap or something?

Many.

This thread is nominally about what games you play.

See? It fits well, by responding to the actual argument, he has seemed to go off-topic.

Oblivion's backpack is like a magic backpack, it can hold an infinite amount of crap, as log is it doesn't wiegh anything. Kinda like the Fallout series. In an RPG it would work well because there IS so much crap to pick up, you can pretty much pick up anything*. But I think the backpack should go by volume, not weight. (I wish my backpack worked off of wieght...) That would be pretty much a magic backpack.
*I'm not sure where the character put his stuff, he didn't have a backpack or anything. He just sort of held it.
