Computers, What are you using?

Post by Zantalos » Thu Apr 27, 2006 9:20 pm

What kind of operating system do you have?
I'm using just a windows XP, there are mainy other forms, and alot of people have things like, what are they called, Power Books? And then there are things like G4 Towers which are way beyond me, I have no idea what they are talking about.

Oh, right. Thanks, I knew I should have googled that first before asking. So it's not an actual OS? It's just one of the better types of macintosh computers, I guess (like alienware computers? Probably not exactly like that).

nah, G4 is the proccessor in the G4 towers. it is also the processor in most recent, mac laptops; with the intel switch there are also non-G4 laptops available.

My OS is Windows XP. It's always been very handy. I cannot stack it up against anything except Windows 98, which is the only other thing I've ever had, but it just seems like a very effective and handy operating system. I've never used or seen a mac, I don't know what it's like. I don't think I would like a mac from the sound of what it focuses on and how games come out later on mac etc. I don't think I would like it anyway because I'm used to Windows.

Mac OS takes a little getting used to, but once you do it is a superior OS. Although I switched back to a Windows system as my primary (and now my only cuz my brother jacked my laptop), but this was moreso because I wanted a desktop, and I wanted to build my own.

If you say so, but I could never get used to anything but Windows.

I don't understand how it can really be difficult to switch between Windows/OSX/Linux w/desktop enviroment. They are all so similar..

agreed. but to be able to smoothly use the OS to its full (or nearly full) capacity takes time. I have very limited use of Linux, but with an already running system it isn't bad. Linux's major downfall is the setup.

It would feel different, I wouldn't be happy with it. There are differences, or people wouldn't argue about the differences, so I couldn't happily switch between Windows and Mac/Linux. There, it wasn't that hard, was it?

Personally i like mac. It seems more user friendly to me and more stable. I'm running on an iMac OSX G4 10.3.9

I've tried PC's and the only thing I like about them is their large game options. Mac has smaller game options.
