Diablo

I played the demo so much I wasn't able to get any more experience from the monsters available.
Then I bought the game and played it over and over. I loved that game.

Hack's Atari ST port.

If that doesn't count, then probably Dungeon Master.

Morrowind is a good game!

Probably Moria or Nethack. Although I saw Betrayal at Krondor being played and was quite impressed by it.

(Yes, I know it was released in 2006, I'm only 11).

Exile: Escape From the Pit. Anyone else remember it? Was a tough as hell game for me back then.

I tried it several years ago, but never got anywhere in it.

SaGa Frontier. I played it at such a young age that I forgot most of the story, but I replayed it about tow years ago. Brilliant game :3

Omigawd! That was my first one too!

*ahem*

I mean, yeah, my first RPG was Exile: Escape from the Pit.

A decidedly nifty little game. At least in the opinion of ten-year-old me.

I don't seem to remember it being particularly hard though. Not once I read the manual. Well... except for certain parts. Like the dungen blocking the exit. And anything involving Sith Archmages.

Seriously, fuck Sith Archmages.

POKEMANZ BLUE.

Aside from that, Final Fantasy VIII.

Hm, now that you mention it, I guess the Pokémon games DO count as RPG's, and in that case the first RPG that I played was Pokémon Red.

If it were not for Pokémon Red, it would have been Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

Fallout 3.
I came late to it because of only really enjoying action-y 1st person and 3rd person (like Lugaru) games, and disliking turn-based combat.

I think I put 400 or more hours into F3 and then FNV. Now the modern, open world fps/rpg combo is my absolute favorite game format.

Same! If post-apocalyptic, all the better.

Yeah, people don't seem to judge it as such for some reason, but it pretty much fits the characteristics of an RPG...but with an odd twist. Whereas normally it's you directly controlling your party characters, this time it's you controlling some kid who controls your party characters. =P
