Up Coming Games

Up Coming Games as the title suggests. Which games are on your highly anticipated list?
For me, I got a bunch of them (I'm going to use Gamespot for links, just as a sidenote). There's this pretty cool looking one called Assassin's Creed, some WWII sequels like
Call of Duty 3,
Medal of Honor: Airborne, and
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.
Dark Messiah sounds like a fun Medievel first person game. Of course I have to say
Sporeand
Halo 3(probably won't actually buy Halo 3... or a 360. Don't know why though). These are just the few games with actual release dates, I haven't even heard about
Fallout 3 or
Resident Evil 5 yet
Anyways look at Call of Duty 3, Check out the aiming system, check out the fighting. It looks like these games are starting to have concepts from David's Blackshades game! See, you know how it's hard to look around in FPSs? It's hard to read stuff on screens than in real life. You can shake your head around and still read and see stuff pretty clearly, but you can't make out words if you shake your mouse in a FPS, it's too dissorienting! So to make it more life like, you can take out the dissoirienting effects by shaking the gun instead of your eyes, the aiming looks so much more fluid (hope the guns act real too. Corsairs
sp are silly, bullets should go where they're pointed at).
And now look at that hand to hand combat. It's so similar to Blackshades, I'm so happy for it being used (hopefully trailers, sorta act like what they are). Instead of giving you just a smash button, it looks like they're starting to take the use of grab moves. Originally just for Blackshades, you could take guns away from enemies in an awesome grab yenk, now it looks like a cool part in Call of Duty. Man this game is looking awesome! All games should be first, centered around Wolfire Games, they make them seem so much better. I don't even know what COD is going to be like, and already I'm thrilled!

Lugaru 2 and Assassin's Creed are the main ones I'm looking forward to. But I have Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and SiN Episodes: Emergence... that'll keep me going for a few months.

First of all, I'll mention Lugaru 2. I don't need to say why this game is going to be great, just check out the buzz all over the forum about it.
Assassin's Creed looks like a great, innovative idea for a game. I don't remember a game solely based on your location of a target, assassination of target, and escape from assassination scene before. The stuff talked about like blending in with the crowd by mimicing what others are doing sounds so intriguing, particularly on the newer consoles when it will be possible to process so much more detail into games, such as large interactive environments and interactive crowds at a scene. The controls of the game are also going to be context-sensitive, so it will be a small but like Lugaru when you are fighting. The X is for use of legs, SQUARE is for hands with weapon, O is for hands without weapon, and TRIANGLE is for your head. I look forward to slicing the throats of important kings or guild members. The game is also set during the Third Crusade, in the area of Jerusalem (I think?), and that sounds pretty cool as a setting.
Resistance : Fall Of Man (for PS3) looks absolutely enticing, particularly some of the physics animations, like when you get a shotgun blast (check out IGN videos of this game). A big appeal for me from this game is the atmosphere of battle. When I was watching this video, it was almost like I was actually seeing through the eyes of a man on the battlefield of some futuristic war, which appealed a lot to me. The sound effects are also particularly pleasing and help with the immersion. The AI seems very good, because you can actually see the squads coming at you in waves, working together, and taking cover to fire from. The character and level design have also been given a great deal of attention. This game seems extremely underrated, because there doesn't seem to be any buzz about it. Check it out.
Also, there is Metal Gear Solid 4. I don't think I need to say why I'm eagerly anticipating this one. Just look at the last three instalments.
This is in reference to Spore, which was mentioned already. Check out the IGN demo video of this game. It's pretty unreal. There is such a huge amount of detail in this game, it's shocking. You can construct your own creatures to your exact specifications, and each choice of claws or legs or eyes has effects on how that creature will progress in the actual game world. I can't stress it enough. You can get a spaceship, and travel to other planets, other solar systems even. If you want, you can find a settlement on a faraway planet and either try to make peace with them, lay siege to them with the ships laser cannons, or try to beam some of them up onto the spaceship, which I will say now is not something their settlement takes too lightly, as they will probably then throw every piece of military bombardment they can at you. You can even do fireworks for the settlement, which they may applaud. Go see the video for yourself.
Gears Of War looks really cool. The different actions and the way you utilise cover on the battlefield appeals to me in this game. Also, there is a neat action-packed storyline to this game. The story appeals to me a lot, and you can see in the videos at IGN some of the cool things that happen throughout, such as locked metal doors being blown open and you being set upon by yet another group of intensely grizzly battle oppenents, which are also extremely clever fellows I might add. I also saw a chainsaw being used to cut another guy open.
God Of War 2 appears a lot like the first instalment, but just done on a much larger scale. There are many different terrains experienced, many more weapons (and with them new battle techniques). The good ol' red slashy blades of fire things are still here, to no surprise because that has to be some of the coolest and funnest weaponry ever. Kratos is still no happy man. That was his name, wasn't it? I forget. The first game was godly, and this game looks godlier (if that's a word).
Halo 3 intrigues me. The Master Chief is up to his old tricks again, as he spots an ancient forerunner facility (that's what I think it is most likely to be). I thought Halo 2 was a step down from the original, which was a great game (not the "OH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST COMPUTER GAME EXPERIENCE EVER" game it was supposed to be). I hope Halo 3 does not take a further teeter over the edge (possibly other people disagree with me about Halo 2 being worse, but it bored me a bit in some areas. It was an average game, I'll say). Anyway, it was said that the video trailer of Halo 3 from E3 was in real-time. I don't really know what my opinion is on this. If it is in real time, then this game is computationally stunning, because that is a great amount of detail for real-time footage. I do, however, want to mention that I eagerly await playing this game some time in the distant future and discovering what exactly is inside that forerunner facility, and experiencing "how the world ends".
Final Fantasy XII (PS2) and Final Fantasy XIII (PS3). I don't feel like saying why in full. I just anticipate them mainly because they will be the first proper Final Fantasy games since FFX (which was not well-met at all by me. I did not like that game much).
Lost Planet (exclusive to XBox360) looks really cool. Some of the game is just visually stunning, like the level designs and the destruction effects, such as explosions. The physics-based explosions from grenades sends towers toppling, and bits of metal flying at you. The detail placed in this game is crazy. Also, some of the character design is really cool. There are areas where you'll be fighting giant monsters which come from underneath you, and there are areas where you will be laying siege on several other mechs with your own mech, which seems to have the capability to boost jump onto the top of buildings etc. The weather effects and just generally the environment in general in the game looks stunning, because the tossing of a grenade will send an explosion of snow into your path of vision, possibly imparing you from aiming at certain enemies properly. It is bits of detal like this which sometimes makes for some really great games. This is a game I highly recommend you to check out, especially if you have or are considering getting an XBox 360.
That's pretty much all I can think of about the games I'm looking forward to. I wrote quite a bit, didn't I? Jesus.

Hey check it out! Battlefield 2 just got a new patch (yesterday) which adds in two new things. One of them is vehicle drops, which are requests you can send in to get a Fast Assault Vehicle paradropped to you. The next thing is bots, you can now play maps that have bots in them, which I think is really awesome, they should have gotten this a long time ago (these bots are called co-op mode).
Ok, now I'm going to list their release dates:

Bah, I just felt like rambling on. I've actually been wanting someone to let out all my feelings about the new system games, but I've had no one to do it on. Here is my outlet.
Also, has anyone else heard the news of there possibly being a Star Wars : Knights Of The Old Republic 3? That would be the best decision LucasArts could possible make. Those games were unreal, and extremely successful, so why not continue the series? Who else likes these games? How could you not like HK-47?

Lugaru 2 (and a possible Lugaru1 Recreation as a mod)
Prince of Persia 1 - 3
Starcraft 2 (start working, Blizzard, fuck off WoW)
Homeworld 3 (or a better Homeworld 1)
TimeWarp StarControl Mod
Geneforge 4

Lugaru 2, Halo 3, Smash Bros Brawl, Metal Gear Solid 4 ... except I don't have any of the next-gen systems ... maybe I'll play them at a friend's house

Man I completely forgot about homeworld!
That game was so awesome, I couldn't believe other RTSs weren't space games as well. (except for
Nexus, which nobody played)
The next Real Time Strategies I'm looking forward to are
Company of Heroes,
Supreme Commander, and
Comand and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Company of Hereos, just looks like it has great AI for each soldier, I dunno if that right though.
Supreme Commander deals with an entire planet it looks like, and deals with thousands of units at a time.
Comand and Conquer sounds like the next big RTS, just because it's from the makers of C&C generals, and Red Alert. Also, that video looks extremely action packed, I don't think I can believe its actually real though, (unless you really do have to manuely tell pilots to go their ships before they fly, that'd be fun)

Urgh.. more micro, just what we need. What next, manually instructing each unit to reload?

I have always found Real Time Strategy games extremely tedious and boring. More so, I'm not good at them at all, really. I have never excelled at a game to a huge extent like all these Counter Strike-heads who you can tell never get off the computer.
But on the whole, strategy games don't appeal to me that much, except for some exceptions, like Age Of Empires. That game did for strategy games what Tupac did for rap music to me.
Also, I am getting the PS3. Thought I'd mention it, since this is the place to talk about next-gen games. (Cue dramatic monologue) Sony has served me well over the past years with the first two instalments to the series of consoles, so I'm not going to desert them now. I WON'T LEAVE THEM WHEN THEY NEED ME THE MOST. SONY WILL LIVE ON.
Please don't hurt me.

I also dont like RTS games. In my case though it is because I cannot handle controlling so many different things, I always seem to forget something. My mind doesnt work quickly enough and my memory is to poor for these games, although I do respect people who can play these games to a higher level of skill.
In regards to the PS3 I think a quote that Jeff said last night would fit well, but I can't rememberit so I will paraphrase. We were talking about the Titanic and how a piece of its hull was atop the place where were going. I commented on how that is just asking to be a tremendous failure and Jeff quipped "Just like the PS3." I should add that the reason for this PS3 tragedy will not be its games or the systems overall quality, but rather will be aresult of its price (they better make the PS3 leaps and strides better than the Wii) That is all I have to say about your PS3 love and my "disapproval" of their marketing plan.
PS: the space bar on the computer at my work sucks so typing is really hard and you should all commend me for making sure to have spaces wherever they should appear

Ditto.

I'm not getting it based on its marketing plan or anything of that sort. I'm getting it because I have always genuinely thought the games etc. for the Playstation series have been way above the other systems. Not to say I didn't love some games from the XBox (Knights Of The Old Republic 1 and 2, two of the most legendary games ever, Halo to a lesser extent) or the Gamecube (Metroid Prime, was there any fault to that game?), but I think Playstation had endless amazing titles (Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto [the GTA games were just generally heaps of fun, I don't care], Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, The Warriors). I'm aware some of the titles I mentioned for the different consoles crossed over to other systems.
