Surely they're going to want to change this? I can't imagine people not kicking up a fucking stink about this.

Thats the problem with EULA's and legal stuff
People just assume you make a transaction and use it normally. However there is so much more in there that you're agreeing to.
Its kinda a dirty trick ... but that's lawyers for you.

Yeah, saw this elsewhere. It smells.
I wouldn't care, but they're making Origin mandatory for some of their new games, like how Steam is for Valve games. So if you want to play Battlefield 3 on the PC you have to install Origin, even if you bought the game retail.
Which sucks. I can life without BF3, but if they do the same thing for Mass Effect 3... well, they have me by the short-and-curlies on that one.
I'm damn glad they're being called out on this.

That's certainly rather fishy. That said, I'm not personally concerned with it since I'll likely be picking up Battlefield 3 for my console, but it's still pretty shady.

Apparently Battlefield 3's maps are going to be scaled down for console versions and run at a lower amount of frames per second, think it's set at 30 FPS for the console versions. This concerned me, but thanks Grayswandir, good news is good.

We'll see how good the news actually is Andy, from what I understand it basically says the same thing but its worded differently. Knowing EA its still probably just as bad, but now its all nice and happy instead of openly dorking people in the ass.
Honestly, 30fps isn't really bad, as for scaling down the maps it makes sense. There are going to be less players on the maps, so having more space with less players means more players wandering around looking for other players to shoot and less time actually shooting.

Yeah it's because the PC version has up to 64 players online while the console versions have only up to 24, I believe. The areas on maps will be slightly smaller, but I think, considering how a lot of Battlefield 2's maps were like, that this means they'll just be denser without as much empty terrain between bases/urban areas etc. The flyspace for helicopters and jets will remain the same as in the PC versions, as it would be kind of hard to hurtle around in a jet going like 1500kph in a map that's barely a kilometer in length

Read the revised EULA.
It's not much better. Just the same thing in friendlier words and surrounded by platitudes. It still collects information on everything you have installed. Also, the part about giving your information to third parties says, "EA would never..." What it should say is, "EA may not..."
At least they removed the part that said that they could record your name, your address, your kid's names, your kid's schools and give it away to whoever they damn well please.

Even if there is a few nicks, it is better.

I don't really get it ...
I mean all they did was rephrase it with a different tone. They didn't really make any changes in their policy at all
Could someone explain where the changes in their policy is?
I mean if I said "put a stick up your bum" and someone got upset so I changed it to "please insert this stick into your rectum, because we care" would it really be any better?

Dear Underthedeep, you are a scholar and a gentleman.
My flatemate just rushed in the room wondering what I was laughing so loudly at.
