The Opera web browser has built in widgets. It's awesome.

I can't imagine myself using any widget seriously. It's more of a novelty.

The calculator, iStat(a monitoringthing), conversions, translator, stickies, and other misilenious (I cannot spell that for some reason) widgets are quite handy. I use them often (at my friend's house.... Damn you, financial dependance...)

I always have my bash open when the computer is running. Every small task a widget could do could be done with a simple bash line. No need for widgets.
