Well, haven't heard this one from countless people before. Not sure how that's pedantic really, I'm not correcting anyone over anything they're doing.
Okay, so I stretched the definition of pedantic a bit, focussing on the 'fussy with details' part of the definition. You do get the point, though.

Rest is fair game.

You need to have some degree of personality and memorability to go with the font. You don't those.
Heh, I added that as a joke, seeing as that behavior was what I was going against right before. But I agree with you. I'm not memorable. I'm the perfect spy. Now forget...

Never seen a single second of Gears OF War gameplay, even in some clip on the internet in passing? I may be a cynic in saying this, and you may not have (however unlikely that is for a gamer in today's world), but I get the feeling you say it to uphold some self-imposed image of independence from the world of over-produced AAA titles. Maybe because you think people might respect you more for resisting the norm. The Gears Of War games definitely deserve even just a look, though, if only to be aware of the existence of one of the most influential series of this generation of gaming. I don't hold any strong loyalty towards the series. I bought the first two games, I've sold them since and didn't bother to buy the third, but I've enjoyed them.

Speaking of AAA titles, I didn't think Killzone 3 would be as good as it was, but I played the multiplayer today up in my friend's room and loved every second of it.

Oh so THATS what we were talking about.

Still haven't seen many (if any) ... all I know is chainsaw guns, that's pretty much it. (and i wanna say ... max phoenix is a character?)

I don't actually play videogames nearly as much as anyone here would suspect. I basically only bought Overgrowth to play with the map editor. (well, except minecraft, but that shit doesn't even have a goal.)

To be honest, every time Wilberfast goes on one of his super-critical pseudo-intellectual rants of some obscure game I've never heard of but everyone else in the forum seems to have, I can't help but feel somewhat out of place.

Whooaaa there. Reading into it a bit far. I can't actually claim to be that independent of the mainstream; believe me, I've watched my share of AC (et al) playthroughs. It's just that GoW has never been a game that particularly interested me, so I haven't ever looked up a video. I have probably seen a couple seconds of gameplay here and there, but I wouldn't recognize it. Anyways, I certainly wouldn't get any jokes associated with the series. I'm in somewhat of the same boat as Bryan here, actually. I don't own a console or good computer, and I'm a poor highschool freshman, so the only games I really have are a couple of the HiB ones, Minecraft, OG, and Minecraft. And TF2 and Portal, but those were free.

And I just looked up a video. Honestly, meh.

shit, i am now just reading into this thread and i am drunk.

but i will say so much games nowadays use or are influenced from GoW's combat system, so you've probably seen it some place or another.

it's basically like halo 3rd person with a key-locked cover system.

Yeah, I've played the second GoW, and while it can be fun it doesn't feel really great. The multiplayer is ok, but the fact of that game is that I wouldn't enjoy it much if I hadn't been playing with my friend. It's a lot more fun to be joking and laughing with a pal than it is to pop alien zit skulls with lead fingernails alone. I just couldn't do GoW all day.
Dead Space, however, is the greatest AAA franchise ever invented. Evar. I've been playing Dead Space 2 most of today and yesterday and it's amazing fun. I haven't played the first one though. I mostly wanted to get the second one for the bad ass Zero-G controls and the Security Suit :D I'll have to get the first sometime, though.

I despise this entire generation of games, not because I'm trying desperately to be different, but because I really just don't find them enjoyable or even fun to look at (minus a few exceptions). Gears of War is actually one of my least favourite games ever, the entire setting and artistic depiction fill me with inexplicable loathing.

I actually love the moral dichotomy in the storyline of Gears Of War though, because you play the OOO-FUCKIN'-RAH American marines blowing up the aliens and it shapes the game to seem like you're the good guys, with this alien race named the Locust being the evil murderers. That is, until you go through the game a bit and realise that it was earth which invaded the Locust home planet for resources. Eventually you murder and slaughter pretty much their entire race for the sake of these non-renewable energy sources. This is a species which doesn't even have the technology to get off its home planet. So you're playing this game going "AMERICA, FUCK YEAH, HERE COME THE GOOD GUYS" until you eventually realise that it's actually you that's playing the heartless rape-and-pillage-style villains.

That is kind of fun, but it's a bit too real for me, I like my games to be a bit further off from real life.

Haha, I never realized that. Then again, I only played the first one, and it was in co-op so we weren't exactly hanging along in the story as much as we were counting who made the most corpses.
