Actually development started in 2009.
But still... "Capable and modern" errr wha...

Even though Minecraft has the look of an older game, it's very capable and modern. In fact, it comes out in a couple of days.
Ren that was a very good analogy. That's exactly how I think of Minecraft's ending, and boss fight. I wish it would have stayed as a simple sandbox; the forced meaning is unnecessary. I guess you don't really have to pursue the ending though, so it's just there to please people like Cyber.

That changes it from 1 year and 6 months to 1 year and 11 months. You're right, MASSIVE difference.

It is to an infant. And I think your math is slightly off, it actually officially started on May 10, 2009, which is approximately 79570000000000000000000000000000 yoctoseconds ago, or 0.00000000000000007957 yottaseconds ago, or 2 years 6 months 7 days ago as of November 17, 2011. Which actually is significantly different.

No but you see Bryan already did that one and it wasn't even funny when he did it...

You can see the intense effort to correct me in the exactitude. That's cute.

I was bored. Wolfram Alpha is fun. So is Wikipedia.

I was just going to say that. I don't actually like minecraft anymore; It's lost the 'Build Anything you Want' feel and seems like the last stages of development were extremely lazy, and seemed to involve adding a bunch of stuff from skyrim into the game. (XP/Levels, Tool Upgrading, Potions, Dragons, BOSSES)
The Ending narrative is annoyingly long too.

He just added generic RPG elements. The dragon boss aside, why would you say it has anything to do with Skyrim? Because they were "released" at the same time?

I know, the comparisons people draw to Skyrim always seemed a bit overblown. I think the RPG elements didn't add anything to the game at all, but eh. You can always ignore them. I still play, but mostly in creative mode, planting ungodly amounts of TNT everywhere and making all the mountains volcanoes.

Yeah, not sure how adding something, which is essentially part of the interface of the game rather than part of the actual gameplay, is going to screw up the game...surely if the levelling doesn't completely change the gameplay it's not really going to be an issue. Having said that, I don't play Minecraft, I play Terraria BECAUSE I'M EVEN MORE RETRO AND INDIE AND STUFF.

It isn't really a big issue. The biggest problem I had was the fact that you could "win" Minecraft. However, the process you have to go through to actually get to the end fight is so far removed from what you would normally do while playing Minecraft that pretty much the only people that would ever get to it would be the people that really want to have an end fight. So it all works out in the end.
I haven't tried Terraria. It looks kind of good, but I have such limited funds for gaming that I would much rather spend money on a game that isn't so similar to Minecraft.

It's very different to Minecraft. And it cost me 3 quid or something silly like that on Steam in a sale...and I got 30+ hours from it. That's like 1 euro for every 10 hours of gameplay.
