Android 3D Model Viewer

Hey everyone! I've been taking an Android development course over this last semester at my local community college. One of the requirements of the class was to create a final project - I decided to use the opportunity to start learning OpenGL.
At the moment the app supports the loading of .obj model files (with up to 65,535 triangular faces) and .jpg/.png textures. Once the model is loaded, you are able to rotate/scale the model using touch controls. I've also added lighting support and the ability to set the color, brightness, directionality, and position of the light.
Since the project is due this week (finals!) I've released version 1.0; not everything looks exactly how I would like it to, and I would like to add some additional features, so you can expect updates over the coming months.
The app is free, so if you have an Android phone/tablet please give it a look! I would love to get some feedback, so feel free to either respond to this post or send me an email at

Just ran some of my old DAZ stuff through it. Did what it says on the tin. Freaked out at a few of the ones nearing 60k polys but I chock that up to having a low end samsung transfix. Not bad.
As of Dec. 28 You're third in the marketplace and poised to beat Autodesk.

As I do not personally own an android device, I had a friend download it, it has led to several pieces of Forensic Science coursework not being completed on time, as she tends to sit there spinning the baby model around then challenging me to do better... I hope you're proud of yourself.

I'm glad you've been enjoying it
I'm working on an update that will fix a few bugs and allow the user to mess with the background color. I would also like to add support for other formats, but that takes a bit more time
Also, I recently had my app approved on the Amazon Appstore for Android, in case anyone would prefer to download it there:
