You take a bunch of computers that are exactly the same and basically use all of their resources at once. It's basically a small scale super computer. But with a bunch of different units.
I've wanted to try one, and have had the opportunity to, but it never panned out

40 crappy old Dells in one asbestos filled room. Sounds like the right stuff, yeah?

:O
That would be amazing. I have to do this some day.
Also, that's how you know you're doing it right.

That does indeed sound amazing.

I am so fucking jealous right now that you don't even know. I got my e-mail to order, but I checked Allied Electronics site and they don't seem to have any in stock.
Whatcha gonna do first?

NECRO'ed lol
I am looking into buying one of these things. I was wondering what you guys thought of it after getting one (If you're still around)

It's nice. I've used it for a number of purposes (video streamer, fileserver, drop-in replacement for a microcontroller in various projects, etc). It's relatively easy to use (if you know a bit about Linux/programming/circuitry).
So yes, I can recommend it. Even if you figure it out for a few small projects, it's well worth the 35.

Well, I have been looking at getting an arduino with ethernet capabilities or a micro computer to control something like this (except ours is prettier

):
Basically I'm trying to make it so I can stop a press over the internet.
A $35 dollar microcontroller controlling a refurbished $600,000 1950's era press over the internet. This is totally a good idea.
(before people freak out, this is actually to prevent people from running the press without permission. I plan on rigging it so you can't turn it on with the board, but simply give permission to run it.)
Really I think the arduino would be a better choice in this scenario, but the raspberry pi is cool enough I wanna get it
