I tried not to read into it too much. I believe the artist's emphasis and focus was on the animation more than on making every facet of the story perfect.
I just loved the animations and the way the music was used. I enjoyed it a lot.

Anyways, I'm sure all those questions could be answered by either "Because he/she is a good/bad character," or, more to the point, "Because it's a fairy tale type story, and the happy ending and storytelling are all that matter." The music was awesome. I wonder if that was composed for the animation, or if it's an established piece. It fit well.
