This game has been a hit in Australia (especially among kids) after it was shown on Good Game and Good Game Spawn Point.

Good Game is a pretty awesome TV show with game reviews and news, and Good Game Spawn Point is a spin-off mainly for kids, but it's still good fun to watch. They're pretty popular here.

Kids learning and enjoying astrophysics ...

It gave me chills down my spine. the good type

Also, BAM! Docking bitches!

Wait ... HOLY FUCK EVERY PANEL JUST SHATTERED WHEN I CHANGED THE TIME SPEED!!!

GOD DAMN YOU TICK RATE!!!! I SPENT A GOOD 6 HOURS GETTING THAT SHIT DOCKED TOGETHER!

P.S. along the lines about kids learning physics, about two years ago I volunteered to teach kids about robotics. Apparently, a good 1/3 of them want to go into engineering now and have raise their grades in math and science. That kicks so much ass.

I was planning to never use quicksave until my 4th run at landing on Duna, when my probe just happened to land on the one spot where the terrain was bugged.

I haven't used quicksave yet.

I basically restart the entire mission when I fuck up.

It's given me a ton of practice with orbits though ...

Right now I'm building a colony ship :D

I'll have to post it after I get my shit together.

Basically, I'm going to stick with my "hexagonal" docking design but I'm taking the members out and im only going to connect on the edges. I think what happened earlier with my previous wreck was the ports didn't couple just right and put stress on the ship.

When I sped up time, the stress was compounded and several ports snapped off and took of the panels.

Getting my payloads into orbit is gonna be a huge pain in the ass >_>

I think I'm going to need about 4 coupled Stations that seat 9 people each + 8 trips to deliver 24 crewmembers + a refuel or two + an engine module.

It shall be called the Genesis project.

Well shit.

Couldn't generate enough lift to get it into orbit.

Hmm.

I found KSP through the glorious Robbaz, and now I'm hooked. I only bought it a month ago, just before the newest update and man is it guid. It's the only game I've played since ('cept OG. And many, many others). Haven't done anything terribly exciting in it yet, though. Just your average moon landing failure and space plane explosions.

So here is my latest creation in progress:

I've named it "Colonial One":

Image

It is currently commanded and piloted by the famed and fearless "Jebediah Kerman".

Right now there are 11 other crew members on board.

So far there are two landing pods and 2 transport modules stacked on each other.

4 more landing modules will be added to fill the side docks. If the ksp gods permit, I may add a third transport module with 6 more landing pods.

This will add up to a total of 41 crew members.

I've already bumped into it once with one of my landers and shat my pants. I was disoriented while incoming with the landing pod and I couldn't fix it in time so I decide to just stop spinning around to minimize damage and hope for the best. luckily I was going below 0.5m/s so I didn't break anything. Also, I prepared ahead of time for the docking by retracting all the solar panels on the station so I didn't take out any panels.

Jack,

You can change the kerbol's names in the game files, theres literally just a long list of names which are chosen in order.

What is the best time to burn for duna? I havent managed it yet, but I do have something like 20 ships orbiting the sun

Oh ok, I wasn't aware. I haven't looked in the game files that much.

The best time in general to burn for planets in a higher orbit around Kerbol is when you are on the dark side of Kerbin. To reach Duna, you want to have Duna roughly 45º ahead of Kerbin in its orbit around Kerbol. If that was unclear, this is a really great tool for interplanetary transfers in KSP.

So ... what do you guys think?

Should I burn to minmus or the mun or keep adding to it?

It needs an artificial gravity system.

Well my shitty macbook would be gasping for life at that point, so I'm not that good a judge, but I think it's big enough. Only Minmus, though? Why are you taking all those landers to Minmus?
