There's no getting through to you, isn't there?
Well, that's fine for you to say, seeing as you think you're right. I'm sure I do seem obstinate. I also think I'm right, so it is hard for me to see why you don't agree with my point of view. I think moving on is a fine course, though.

gg

EDIT: Jesse, that absolutely deserves to be an archived event, that was fuckin' hilarious. Glabbit, I implore you make it so.

That's fairly retarded. I don't think you're right, which is why I don't agree with you. That's pretty straightforward. What is "gg"?

Don't be lazy, Andrew. You could've easily looked that up.

And in case you mentioned that just to butt the topic astray... then well played...

Yes, and I don't think you're right, which is why I was trying to make you agree with me. Clearly, we understand each others' views and simply disagree, so why don't we take your advice and end this discussion.

The proper answer to this entire discussion about grammar is:
"Grammar is my bitch, and I shall fuck her in the ass like a Tijuana crack whore if I so desire."

Perceptive. I've played CS enough to know what it means. I fucking loathe "gg". Especially when used by a clan that's just won 16-0 without breaking a sweat. Playing a lot of CS:GO these days. It's not good for my blood pressure.

Perhaps you should try playing a few rounds against me. I fail horribly at shooters, yet every so often I return to them for... I don't know what for, actually.
You'll find me by the name of Glundyn.

That goes for the rest of you too, o'course.

And to comment on the current topic, I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised to hear that I'm siding with Jackrum and the lot for this one.

I don't hate the term as much as I hate the people. "gg" is so often misused it is worrisome.

Yeah a lot of people don't seem to know what it means. I've played in some horrible matches that were miserable to play in where almost all 10 people except for me have gone "GG" without fail at the end of the last round. NO, NO IT WASN'T A GOOD GAME, IT WAS MISERABLE AND NO ONE HAD FUN.

And yes, people on CS are generally retarded.

I can see how it could be perceived negatively, I too have fumed at the overwhelmingly better opposing team collectively saying "gg" after a game in which all they did was spawnkill us the whole time. Rest assured, I meant it sincerely.

That goes for me as well. The only machine I have access to for gaming purposes is my 2009 macbook, so I'm stuck to playing old and outdated games. I find a lot of them to be tons of fun to play, actually, but most of them are kept alive only by a very small and skillful group of players that have had years and years of practice and are very frustrating to play against, especially for someone as bad at FPS's as I. Nevertheless, I come back to them from time to time and good times are had.

If I play an FPS regularly I'll get fairly above-average at it and have more "wow awesome that totally looked like something a pro would do" moments than "jesus salmon christ i am literally retarded" moments. Strangely enough, sometimes I'll feel like I'm doing pretty bad at a game, leave it for a few weeks, come back, and do way better. There are some games where I don't mind doing bad and some where it is utterly infuriating. For instance, Firefall was really fun to just dick around with, trying to surf around everywhere and so forth. I typically do fairly well in Battlefield so sometimes I'll switch it up and see how many people I can kill using only a blowtorch, though it is unsurprising when I amass twice as many deaths as kills. On the other hand, Counterstrike puts me in danger of getting an ulcer if I'm on the team that's being demolished every round and it seems like every enemy player one-hits from across the map whenever I so much as gently breathe out of my nose. CoD's small maps and random spawns mean that I'm either enjoying an unstoppable 40-man killstreak or watching my deathcam more than actually playing, which is why I stopped playing by myself around the time of MW2 and began the practice of playing with a horde of friends so we could be cheap bastards. I must say the experience has improved significantly since then. (Read "since then" as "Black Ops 1," because I'm not made of money for fuck's sake, who can afford dropping $60 on one series every year?)

I feel your pain, buddy. Up until about 2010, I was using an old 2003 PC, and then I got a new computer and had my hopes crushed by its mediocrity- integrated graphics and so on. My PC right now is fairly decent, back in December I was lucky enough to install a larger PSU which let me finally use this old nVidia card I had (9600GT), so I can now run pretty much the majority of modern games without too much trouble. 8GB of RAM, ~2.8ghz dual-core (which is probably my weakest link right now) Pretty okay.

Some games just utterly hate my computer though. DX:HR was a massive bitch to try to run. On 1024x768 resolution, with everything on the lowest possible settings, I got about 15 FPS and every time I turned a corner and had to render a new area, my GPU's fan got worryingly loud. Needless to say I ended up playing through that particular game on console.

Yeah I mean I'd actually count it as a somewhat positive experience, in some ways, as I have way more fun on a whole playing this than when I play Black Ops 2 on my friend's Xbox, but that might be partially because of my utter incompetence with dual stick FPS's. I would really like to try my hand at the Battlefield multiplayer, though, as I love all sorts of driving games. Another plus is that I've gotten very good at Blood Gulch in Halo: CE, as it is the only map available in the demo. Is CS a legitimately good game? I hear such polar reviews of it.
Yeah, someday I'd like to get a really good gaming PC, but I get money so infrequently and in such small doses I really have to check my priorities...which right now is this.

CS is a very good game and it has a lot of those special heart-pounding moments, along with those random moments of hilarity where you can't really explain why it's funny, you just have to be there when it happens. Also tons of maps and gamemodes beyond the vanilla content (speaking for CS: Source, at least) It does take some time getting into, I was getting regularly slaughtered until I racked up about 20 hours of gameplay, but I like it. Tons of servers to suit your skill and preferred game mode- regular hostage/bomb defusal, zombies, gun game, surf, pro servers, beginner servers, etc.

Yeah from what I've seen the Source engine is nothing else if not dynamic. That does sound great, though. I can't get really into a game unless it has some of those hilarious moments of confusion hidden inside it.
