Collapse of society ≠ the immediate and total vanishing of all currently available media.
Considering there's far more tv series, anime series, and full-length films to watch and games to play and book to read than could be completed in a lifetime, I doubt it'd really make a huge difference in that respect.
This is where solar panels come in handy, of course.

What would you do if society collapsed and the concept of money no longer existed.

There would be no media to enjoy, no books to read, no place to stay ...

Sounds pretty fuckin' boring to me.
Don't you derail this thread god damnit.

All of which require human input in order to make it continue to work.

I honestly think if a regular money or trade economy didn't exist, an economy of "appreciation" would develop.

True advances in this world are done because they are done from passion and a search for perfection.

It's very rare for people to succeed at something when their only goal is to get rich.

They tend to thrive when their main goal is to create a business out of something they love.

People like Mark Zuckerberg didn't get filthy rich because they wanted to make money.

Don't believe me? Think of all the money and time modders have spent developing mods for games, available for free.

Right now, I work as an process engineer at an electronic component company and all the products I make are for Hybrid and Electric vehicles. Every time I get a new request for a part I get really excited about it because to me it means I have another opportunity to chip in to create a vehicle that could change the world.

All these part requests I get, They aren't even close to the same design. That usually means I jump through a shit ton of hoops to make whatever they want and really have to stretch out into areas of manufacturing my company has never even considered before.

In 3-4 years time, I will be able to go to a car dealer's parking lot. Point at a component in the engine bay of a brand new car and say "I made that possible!"

No offense Ren, but you sound like a bitter old man. You need to reconsider your career path if that really is what you think of work.

A thread that isn't derailed at least once isn't usually a good thread. I bet 80% of the shit posted in this very thread are derailed topics.

Static discussions are boring and eventually die becoming forgotten with time.

Dynamic discussions are discussion in which the topic at hand is constantly reborn like phoenixes. New topics born from the fire of the previous topic's destruction.

(Also, anyone here could totally bring the topic back by posting some links ...)

Edit: TL;Dr: ...Fuck rails.

Dammit Timbles. You derailed it.
I demand you go dig through the old topics and bring me some amusing ones as compensation!
