Holy shit.
There were 86 posts, all of titles composed of a bunch of gibberish with the usernames also gibberish.
Ho. Lee. Shit.
They just never stop, do they?

EDIT: OH GOD, I NEED BACKUP, IT'S GROWING
RIGHT AFTER I DISAPPROVED THOSE 86 POSTS, 51 MORE CAME TO REPLACE THEM
It's seriously never ending
There's just more and more and more
Right when you disapprove a fucktonna them, a new swarm fills in
It's ALL in the Lugaru subforum, and they ALL have randomized usernames and post titles.
They're all made of randomized letters that fit into the minimum character size.
It's almost like they're trying to crash the server.

I wonder what drives a human to do something so pointless as to go on this very small community, and just post junk that no one would even look at. No matter what angle you look at it, it seems like just such a waste of time and effort to do that.

They don't do it themselves. They use a macro system. Otherwise called a "bot". It's a piece of software that generates an account and content "appropriate" to the location they are invading.

If it were a real person, I'd be legitimitely concerned.

If that's what they were doing for a living, I'd actually feel sorry for them.

Yes, this is what i assumed but there was effort put into making this bot...for what? Why go through such complications as setting up a bot to just post useless junk that only few people will see?

Unless someone is attempting to vandalize this website but i see no reason anyone would want to do that.

because bots don't take anything to maintain. and it isn't only going to be targeting the wolfire board, it's going to be targeting any PHPBB with a bad HV system. eventually, somewhere in the mass sea of it randomly shouting "ADVERTISEMENT", some poor person unskilled with computers will click it.

and they likely won't make a dime off the pharmaceuticals.

what they will make money off though are the pieces of malware that infiltrate via the spam site's script. either through direct attacks that steal financial information, or adding it to its botnet for whatever purposes it may require. most likely DDoSing or bitcoin mining.

furthermore, malware from advertisements is everywhere. though the 'legit' ones will instead sit inside and just watch, gathering marketing information. if you want to protect yourself from that, get Firefox (open source, so unlike say chrome, it doesn't send off everything you do without someone noticing it and making a fuss), NoScript (it'll be annoying to begin with, but you build a whitelist and eventually have your main sites all unblocked) and AdBlock Pro or Plus or w/e.

Although in truth...

The accounts mentioned above was part of this rampage and have all been banned.

I believe there seriously needs something done about the account registration methods.
